Amen Sol.
I second that. AMEN!!!
Thank you for posting this Sol. Now if only more Americans could OPEN their eyes to see and stop following the blind and the trend of the time.
Amen, Buddy!
Now that is my kind of view! Now turn around and look the other way.
Where is this pic taken? New Zealand?
Not really sure. There was no info with the photo when I found it. Could be anywhere they have granite mountains and goats, I guess. Italy, Switzerland, NZ, Chile, etc. Hey, happy birthday, in case you don’t see the late greeting from yesterday!
Were you trying to make up to the Norwegians, what with the crack you made about them yesterday? You end up with way too many happy accidents!!
It was another accident. But with a weird twist. When I was composing the response to GFC above, I very nearly added Norway to the list, because it looked like fjordland. But I stopped just short of saying so, because I didn’t know if there were granite mountains like that in Norway.

Thanks, Shal! From that site, I found this interesting BBC article about the Apostles formation in Australia partially collapsing while a family watched. Pretty unnerving!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4647857.stm
Yes, I read about it way back when I posted the picture. Remember? While reading about it, I found it fascinating that they renamed the rocks as “the Twelve Apostles” to make it attractive to tourists even though there were only 9 of them. Now eight.
I don’t remember. Did you post a picture of the 12 Apostles a while ago? Sorry about that.
I’ve made only 4 posts, so I remember. You possibly couldn’t have, with all the posts you make.
I just re-read the article and now it says only 7 remain. Hmmm.
Finally. Common sense packaging…

Hey don’t laugh, works every time! And add hot coffee in the morning. Drink it hot! Guarantee to kill lots of bad stuff on the way down. So does alcohol!
Speed dating tip number one:

Meanwhile, in Colorado… It’s fake, but it’s funny.

This one is for you, Bob.

Absolutely beautiful! This Welsh lullaby is done so well here! Thanks Sol fer sharin’!
Just venting some frustration….. The dear husband and I were in the process of buying a house, because in all the irony, we will end up saving money…. go figure (mortgage would be half what we are paying in rent)… anyway… the deal fell through because the seller’s bank (short sale situation) decided they wanted 20k more then the asking price (which we were told was the approved price) it is also 20k more then comps in the area and this thing needed work… a lot of work and comps in the area, some are move in ready…. sigh…. Oh and they wanted us to close in less then 20 days. So we, nicely, told them to take a hike. Now had the place been in better shape, we would have been willing to pay more, but needing to do 15k in repairs off the bat and new appliances…. err NO.
Just venting some frustration. I kept myself from getting too emotionally invested, but it is still frustrating and annoying that we were sitting around since the beginning of December to have the thing fall through.
I hear ya. Buying a house is waaaay too complicated, and the banks and regulatory folks and insurance companies all seem determined to make sure they drive you broke AND insane. Sorry to hear this attempt didn’t go well, but I bet the next one will go better.
I have a feeling it will, the market calmed down a bit, it was hopping at the holidays, and some SFHs opened up vs the TH we had the contract on. So we are looking at SFHs tomorrow evening that have about 1/2 an acre and one old farm house on 8.5 acres. ( I have a hankering for the 8.5 acres but shhhhhh I almost have my city-boy husband convinced there aren’t any banjos playing out there…lol)
I’m with you on the acres, but watch out for the old farm houses. They can be nice (Gruntessa will never forgive me if I don’t eventually get her one with a wrap-around porch), but if they’re old enough they can need a shocking amount of work.
I have a banjo and live in the most snobby, liberal and over-taxed county in the USA (Nassau, NY). I would love 8.5 acres but forget the farmhouse. I’d prefer an old missile silo.
Hey here is one for you New Yorkers that need to just get away once in awhile. A little hide a-way with some elbow room! And Grunt, it has a covered porch.

Better hurry if you want this one!

Wow! You get a lot more for your money out there. There’s 4 bedroom houses (2-3,000 sq ft colonials) on my block on 1/4 acre that have sold for that amount.
That second one… now that’s elbow room!!! Just a bit out of my price range (by about $14 million).
Barn,
Yeah but it is SO HARD to live out here away from all the aminstream of life. The one thing that makes most people leave is the lack of family. It is usually about three years and then there “dream” is over and the kids don’t come and the grandchildren are missed, then they leave. End of story. If they make it seven years they cannot leave!
Hawaii is out as long as I plan on working at my current job. No licensure by credentials in HI, NV, FL or CA.
ok so here is your 1/4 acre special Barn. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/5059-Panini-Pl_Waimea_HI_96796_M82345-32849
Too rich for my blood. If we ever move I’ll care more about how much land I get. We don’t need a bigger house <2000 sq ft is not a problem.
both of those are *slightly* out of our price range.
If there’s one thing I learned from watching those home auction and house hunter shows it’s the short sales can be real time wasters.
