  1. Last summer, White House press secretary Jay Carney was asked why the council had not met for several months.
“There’s no specific reason, except the president has obviously got a lot on his plate. But he continues to solicit and receive advice from numerous folks outside the administration about the economy, about ideas that he can act on with Congress or administratively to help the economy grow and help create jobs,” Carney said.

In a recent interview with The New Republic, President Obama was back to his grousing about the one television news outlet in America that won’t fall in line and treat him as emperor.

If you want to see crazy when it comes to attempts to restrict our freedom of speech then you should find out what the Pox has planned for Australia (Pox = Nicola Roxon the worst and most hopeless Attorney-General ever), because this proposal will actually ban any speech deemed offensive by anyone (except the ALP government of course)

Hey, asshole, my grandfather saw the horror first hand. It was no hoax.

    • Yeah well remember the parable about the lost soul who wanted to come back to warn his “brethren” and God said if they didn’t believe in the prophets and….. they wouldn’t believe him either. These fools are blind and will never “see” after all they have saints giving up their lives for what they believe in his country and THEY are the ones doing the killing. Look what they have done to all the COPTIC Christians and continue to do unabashedly. And we “give” them better weapons to do the job in return. Ooohhhhh I am so angry at our Traitor in chief! Lord forgive me for what’s in my heart!

They still speak of slavery reparations though that ended here more than 150 years ago. Yet they don’t seem to mind the moslems practicing it today.

        • Exactly! I remember watching an interview with John Rhys-Davies about growing up in East Africa, and he talked about watching the slaves being transported. It’s no different now, except that the Christians in Sudan and Egypt are being grabbed even faster than ever. And like Freedom says, OUR TAX DOLLARS are funding it right this moment!! At this point, I just can’t accept it any more. I truly want out. If we can’t stop it, then I am ready to get on a boat and find that island somewhere. Of course, if we could just give the whole State Dept leadership .50-cal lobotomies from a distance, that would be acceptable. It’s just too damn bad those Barretts are so expensive!

This is why I get queasy when some conservatives keep harping on the mental health problems of the sociopaths who committed the massacres at Newtown, Aurora, Tucson, Columbine, etc. Are they suggesting that government should be in the business of deciding who is sane enough to be able to own firearms legally? If so, we will all be disarmed. (Except the sociopaths, who will continue to get hold of firearms one way or another.)

      • facebkwallflower says:

You know, people are declared every day, by the courts and through the proper legal process, as mentally incompetent. This should be the ‘list’ that a gun purchaser’s name is compared to. A gun store prints a current list and compares your id to the list. There is no need to enter a citizen’s name into any search database which can and most like does contain data storage features. The problem is not mentally ill as the mentally ill are not presented to society as such. If Adam’s mother or doctor had gone through this process with Adam, it could have been declared he could not reside in a home with firearms. Which would have left his mother to make a decision; group home, committed, or not have guns in home. I suspect the talkie about mental health problems that is spewed now in connection to gun control is, indeed, for a doctor to have the final say instead of a petition to the court. And that would be a O’Care doctor. Bad news, really bad news. It falls right into what the Usurpers and Agitators are doing; which is paving the way, through demonizing the opposition (See after the letter in this post http://offthefbwall.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/before-you-knee-jerk-call-me-insane-or-a-terrorist-or-closeminded-please-be-openminded-enough-to-read-the-following/ ) , with ALL opposition. That is who???? You and me! *Oh, traveling under alternative name today :) Seems I am stuck as facebkwallflower ’til I figure out how to get back my other personality!

        • No problem, Hoot. We know “whoo” you are.

          • Bob says:

This concerns me right now because my husband has been suffering from depression, and in fact has an appointment to see his doctor tomorrow. I know they’re going to ask him if there are any firearms in the house, and I warned him to be sure he says “no,” even though we have hundreds of them. If he’s diagnosed as clinically depressed and it’s known that we have a houseful of guns, I can see us getting a friendly visit from someone from BATF or HHS or some other busybody government agency, informing us that we have to turn in all of our firearms because it’s unsafe for someone with a mental illness to be in a house containing guns. Obamacare is going to make it so that anyone who suffers from depression, or is on medication for depression, or anything like that, will be declared ineligible to own guns legally.

Of course it was Obama’s re-election that caused his depression in the first place — although the rotten economy, which is also Obama’s doing, hasn’t helped. You’d swear Obama and his cronies planned it that way…

            • No kidding. It’s like they own stock in Eli Lilly or something.

              • I hate to be a nay slayer but if you even mention anything close to depression it will go into his chart PERMANENTLY. If you have any registered firearms in the house yours born his this is the doorway for the next step of taking them away.

            • What A Hoot says:

When Hubs goes to docs. He may want to start the questionnaire with, “As I have taken this or similar questionnaires in the past I will only be answering those that have a direct impact on my ailment today. I have been giving medical history reports since the dawn of the computer age and all the information is on file. This applies to previous questions that have been reworded.” This can get pretty comical, especially if the patient stays personal/camaraderie-like with the doc/nurse. Such as recently happened during questioning:

Doc:”Does or did any of your siblings suffer from depression?”
Patient: “Not pertinent to the surgery”
Doc: (with raised eyebrows) “It is helpful to know in prescribing pain medicine afterwards”
Patient “Oh, well still not pertinent since I have medical history showing no reaction to pain meds after surgeries.”
Doc. “Any parents or siblings have problems with alcohol?”
Patient “Not pertinent to surgery but family legend has it their problem with the stuff was they were prohibitionist.”
Doc: “Are firearms in the house locked?”
(This is how the question is phrased because they cannot ask you outright, as it is an invasion of privacy and is a spy question, not medical. So you have to be coerced into answering the real question. Most will say automatically, “Oh, yes!” or, “I don’t have any guns” or “No guns in the house”.
Patient: “Not pertinent to surgery. But don’t worry doc, I won’t be bringing any weapons to the surgery. I don’t force anyone to provide me a service. (big chuckle)”
Patient: (in middle of questionnaire) “Man, (insert first name of doc or nurse), bet you didn’t imagine this is what healing people would involve, huh? We were taught time is money; not making much money filling time with all these questions. Any of you think maybe you all should be billing whoever is mandating you be the protector-of-the-questionnaire? Bet when you went to college you never thought you would be doing a government clerk’s job!” (this plants a nice little seed of discontentment in their minds for all future questionnaires.

All obvious questions answer with, “Answer on record/file. Perhaps we should wait for another time when your computer records are up-to-date?”

The key for everyone to remember is to NOT ANSWER OUTRIGHT ANY of the questions! If they insist with, “Well, your doctors has the answers but we need a set here for our office (or hospital)” Answer with a quizzical facial expression, “I am pretty sure I approved all records to be forwarded.”

Each of us needs to practice our answers so they sound and actually are US, our own selves. Some people are saying they would be glad to answer the questionnaire provided they can put the answers in the form themselves and request a printed survey(a word some think is what patients should at all times refer to it) that will be returned to the office later so the appropriate attention can be given to it.

And, as to husband, if anyone comes to your door, do not let them in. Talk to them through the window as if you open the door they can legally come in. Make sure the door is locked; sometimes an unlocked door is concluded to be an open door. If you step outside, they can arrest you for whatever of their choice or give opportunity to say you resisted them. If they press they need to get in because they understand someone depressed is in the vacinity of guns and is at a danger to himself, “No one here has been declared by any court as mentally incompetent, Perhaps you have the incorrect address and/or person. Do I need my lawyer?” If your county sheriff is against all this federal gun ban stuff, announce you are waiting for your Sheriff So-and-So.
And last, take down the post this is in response to. And here is something to ponder and use should an occasion rise. A brain surgeon can be on depression meds and not have to disclose that to those he will be performing surgery on. There is something useful in knowing this but I don’t know what yet.

I got blindsided with that survey once and was amazed how helpless I was to answering. It was an unfair set up, leaving me helpless to stand firm. I will never be caught off guard like that again. The SURVEY is designed for you to VOLUNTEER the information. SURVEY. VOLUNTARY. NOT MEDICAL. Do not let your hubs go to the doctors until you get a hold of questionnaire and be prepared. Put as much time into this as you would for a job interview. If it comes to the point that only a doctor needs to declare one incompetent to be so or for one’s meds to make him/her so, then must work towards alternatives. There are now starting to pop up ‘rehab’ to go off ssri’s as it is proving too much for people to just slowly be weaned.

Now for tinfoil hat time, boys and girls! Think, for a moment, how many people in this country are on Synthroid for low-thyroid? One of the problems of unmedicated low thyroid is depression. How easy to start giving placebos instead of Synthroid and its generics??????????

              Love and prayers.

              • What A Hoot says:

Survey. Survey. Not questionnaire. Patient “Since when do we need to answer a survey before getting medical treatment?”

              • barnslayer says:

                Regarding the questionnaire…
                Q. “Do I have guns in the house?”
                A. “Ask the police. If they don’t know then I guess you don’t need to either.”

              • What A Hoot says:

Ha, ha…like the answer! But all answers on the ‘survey’ are not to be answered because if the ‘no’ does not match with the purchased ‘registered’ guns and/or ccw, you have just lied and must be up to no good that you would hide you own guns. I hope I have the opportunity to be ‘offered’ the survey again to try out, “No, thank you. I decline to participate in the survey. Someone I know tried this and was told that it was not a survey to which he told them it was because the answers were used for data comparisons with other survey takers as well as for demographics. Whoever would have thought fifty years ago that we would be having this converstion?

            • What A Hoot says:

Many men from late forties to mid sixties suffer from depression, but it is a symptom of low thyroid and/or sleep apnea. I have seen a man go from being a downer to a full fledge optimist and 1000 percent increase in coping mechanisms withing weeks of having sleep apnea treated. Reduced coping mechanisms is not depression and there is almost always a physical reason (and NOT a chemical imbalance, either). This man I know is the first generation in his family not to be a grumpy old man. It was not the depression that was hereditary but the thyroid and sleep apnea.

              • Bob says:

My husband is already on thyroid medication and has been for many years. He hasn’t taken antidepressants (yet), but he did show up at the ER recently with an anxiety attack, so that’s already on his permanent record and will surely be used against him if/when they decide to confiscate his guns. (Both his parents had heart disease, so he’s a little paranoid about it, and tends to panic when his heartbeat becomes irregular.)

I told him when he sees his doctor today NOT to mention the depression, but just describe his physical symptoms (fatigue, insomnia, etc.). I don’t know what more he can do. He’s in a bind because the depression is such that he’s having trouble functioning, let alone working. For survival’s sake, he either needs to be well enough to work, or sick enough to qualify for disability. I hate to phrase it that way, but that’s what it boils down to. And all this is totally apart from the arsenal we have in our house…

              • Harvey says:

Bob, have you researched SamE? That is something he could try without a prescription.

              • What A Hoot says:

5-HTP. And, make sure next thyroid test T-3 is checked. But back to 5-HTP. We have done a lot of research on the stuff, especially with men our guys’ age. It is cheap and readily available, for now anyway. Email me if interested and I will be glad to share about dosages, times, when, when not. It can be a complete failure if not managed correctly. And if insurance covers, get a sleep test. Really. The goal is to ease the impending doom feeling, which is not depression.

      • I’m reposting this from Hoot/OffTheWall’s site. Oleg always deserves to be heard:

  7. Wow. Really good insight into the Chinese view of the Obama Administration, in addition to the debt and military revelations.

  8. Shalini? If you check in today, I have a question about the renaming of Indian cities that happened a few decades ago. Do people generally use the new names now? Or do they switch back to the old names frequently? I ask because we were just watching the 2006 film Outsourced,
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425326/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_2
This is the film the recent 2010 TV series was based on. It’s silly, but entertaining, and it shows a lot of on location stuff that’s fascinating. My question has to do with the repeated references in the film to “going into Bombay,” and there’s even a comment on Madras. So, why didn’t they use the new names?

    • Shalini says:

People do use the new names except maybe for Bangalore. I’ve never heard anyone, including Bangaloreans, call Bangalore “Bengaluru”. In the case of Chennai, even before the name was changed from Madras to Chennai, Madras was called Madras in English dailies and news channels while it was called Chennai in Tamil dailies and News channels. So didn’t make a difference to us. It’s, of course, expected that people do seldom switch back to old names, especially older people like my parents, but I don’t think it’s quite common among youngsters.

As for the movie, I haven’t seen it but my guess would be that because it’s an American production they probably didn’t know or didn’t research well. I am sure I’ve seen BBC, which of course is British, still list Chennai as Madras. They probably are reluctant to change the name they gave us. :)
