I want to buy this island, and live there, assuming there is a regular shipment of gin.

I’m guessing, on this island, you would have to put up with Australian “Poor Fella” Rum.

“…Senator Kline was a sponsor of an assault weapons bill in the 2009-2010 session which contained the EXACT SAME PROVISION. From Bill 6396:
(5) In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing the assault weapon shall do all of the following:
(a) Safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of the county may, no more than once per year, conduct an inspection to ensure compliance with this subsection;
And from a bill he sponsored in 2005, Bill 3475:
(5) In order to continue to possess an assault weapon that was legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person possessing the assault weapon shall do all of the following:
(a) Within ninety days following the effective date of this section, submit to a background check identical to the background check conducted in connection with the purchase of a firearm from a licensed gun dealer;
(b) Unless the person is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm, immediately register the assault weapon with the sheriff of the county in which the weapon is usually stored;…”

It’s just so hard for me to come up with a pithy retort, as this is just about one of the dumbest things I’ve heard today.

Why Women Talk More Than Men: Language Protein Uncovered
http://www.scienceworldreport.com/articles/5073/20130220/why-women-talk-more-men-language-protein.htm
Oh, puulease.
Hubby talks waaaayyy more than I do.
Sounds like another one of those sciency-but-mostly-fact-free articles. Seems kinda weak. On the other hand, I heard once that the Chinese symbol for “noise” was a figure representing 3 women. Maybe that only works for Chinese women; I don’t know. I do remember being in a chinese restaurant and hearing an animated conversation between 3 women on the other side of the kitchen door, and I must admit it sounded like 3 cats being violently strangled. Hmmmm… Since it was in the kitchen of a chinese restaurant and I couldn’t actually see them, maybe it really was cats being strangled…
Company With Ties to the Federal Gov’t Designs Unsettling Targets for Law Enforcement Community
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/02/19/company-with-ties-to-the-federal-govt-designs-unsettling-targets-for-law-enforcement-community/
“What if I told you police in your town could desensitize themselves to the idea of shooting a (armed) child, pregnant woman, or young mother, for just a couple of bucks?” Reason’s Mike Riggs asks.”
WTF….! The company’s website is down so I can’t see all the “No Hesitation” targets they have for purchase. The selected target images that The Blaze chose to run in its story only show Caucasian people and one of them is a cute little boy. I’m so disgusted and disturbed by this report.
I was just going to post that.
I’ve got a bad feeling about where all of this crap from the .gov is going to end up.
The letters here are pretty good, too………..
http://smallestminority.blogspot.com/2013/02/seriously.html
These letters were on WeTheArmed……………..
I spoke with a senior DHS guy last night, DHS is not buying these targets. These guys are trying to appeal to a market, that simply isn’t there. They also make LEO targets for that matter, I guess they are playing both sides of the fence. Selling women and kids targets to cops (though so far nobody seems to be buying them) and cop targets for the gang bangers to shoot at.
—Pvt.Pyle
My range purchases targets from this company. I have no other dealings with them other then I’ve shot their targets for years. I’ve looked at their website before. They’ve always had targets like those at some point. Since the servers too busy I cant look at the target categories. The closest I can see to “no More Heitation” is the split second targets but I don’t know what is in that category. I did copy the list of target categories they carry and posted it below. They have several Federal agencies listed and I’d like to see what the Feds are using.
The pregnant woman target. I haven’t seen this one but there is another one thats been out for years. I’ve shot it multiple times. The kid targets? It wouldn’t surprise me if they are in the school targets category for rapid deployment training. Hey criminals get old too. There have been numerous Officers killed by seniors.
I don’t know what LE targets Private Pyle is talking about them marketing to gang bangers but I’ve hung Officer targets in the live fire house for target ID in shoot/no shoot scenarios. They also sell paper cutouts like badges, bottles, hand drills etc that you can use to cover over the gun. The target you’ve shot a thousand times? It’s a no shoot target today bro…
I remember back in the days when shooting a black silhouette target was “racist” and realistic targets started coming out. They have a great line of targets including some with obvious body armor to cue you to engage the head. Some of their targets do make you think. I can think of one hostage target that is just excellent for training target discrimination. This looks like someone went through their list of targets and picked some more controversial ones so they could poke the hornet’s nest.
One of their older ones is a shot of one of our retired Range guys. He’s a skinny white guy wearing jeans, a white muscle shirt, and a bandana on his balding head pointing a revolver with a mean looking sneer on his face. Maybe some of the LE guys here have seen it/shot it
I’m taking this one with a big grain of salt especially if Private Pyle spoke to someone he knows in DHS who says they aren’t buying the targets. Where did this start out on? I read somwhere else it was Infowars. That’s all I need to know.

This may be a whole lot of “much ado about nothing”…and not much more than a company tossing out a new product; and someone making a big deal out of it (when it’s destined to go nowhere).
And, finding out that it comes from alex jones makes me want to find out the rest of the ‘real’ story.
I talked to Hubby about the DHS ammo purchase and he thought it was “much ado about nothing” as well. He says most of them (who work for DHS) can’t shoot a damn thing, so they need that much for practice and he also says its a budget issue. Sure, whatever. I’ll talk to him about this story and hear what he has to say.
This morning, I was awakened by the sound of gunfire at a local military base, which is several land miles away. They like to train early in the morning and late at night for about an hour and a half. I would love to know how many rounds were spent.
During the heighth of the war in Iraq, the US Army was using about 5.5 Million rounds per month. At that rate, the 2Billion+ rounds of ammo that DHS has purchased – thus far – will last them through 30 YEARS of intense combat (against the American people).
One reason for the huge DHS ammo purchase (that I posted the other day) is that the government has ‘gamed’ possible homeland security disasters, and the most likely is a complete economic collapse…with the attendant descent into anarchy and possibly civil war.
It’s beginning to look as though DHS is obama’s “Civilian National Security Force” – which will be as well-armed as the military.
Just in case they can’t get enough of the military to go along with a plan to put the hammer down. We’ve certainly seen how gung-ho the TSA has been.
I’d rather have the military on my side than the TSA.
Ditto. I think they could use DHS and TSA as they seem like little men with big guns.
To clarify…
“Let me be clear on this issue…”
coyotesfan97 is NOT me.
I do know that one of our local Clear Channel stations here in Houston allows some firearms commercials. At least one gun store and one gun range that I hear on a regular basis.
What kind of pension plan do you get when you are a retired Pope? Not so much.
