I LOVE pro football. This new rule just pisses me off. And the penalty…WTF?!! Really?! As if I don’t yell at the t.v. enough when I watch a game.
“The penalty will be 15 yards from the spot of the foul, and if both the offensive and defensive player lowers his head and uses the crown of the helmet to make contact, each will be penalized.”
Okay, yeah, I might rejoice when the penalty might help my Steelers win a game–especially if the game is against the Ravens
, but I’m betting that the Steelers will incur the most penalties. Just sayin’.
I heard this discussed with a retired big name NFL player (might have been Emmitt Smith). Basically he said it’s a normal self-protection reaction to pull your head in when you’re running with the ball… especially if you know you’re about to get hit. He continued… the idea that they expect someone to keep their head up so it can get taken off at the neck is crazy. He concluded by saying this rule was obviously thought up by someone who never actually played football.
And isn’t that the key to ALL bad government anyway?

My 6 y.o. is a Steelers fan, too. The other day I found some toy football helmets in a box of stuff. Well, DD just found the box, pulled out 2 Steelers and 49ers helmets and put them on her Barbie dolls. I had to laugh especially after learning about this stupid chickification rule!
I took a picture of the football Barbies! I’m going to see if I can post it after I put DD to bed.

IIRC, Rush was talking about this positioning the other day. Don’t know if he was the one who came up with it or just passing on something he heard. Buy papers, magazines and hit the lo-fo voters with subtle conservative slanted material. Since most readers are so ignorant of the liberal bias and slant, it is just as easy to lead them by the nose in the other direction. While it is certainly no short-term fix, we didn’t get into this mess overnight and you have to start somewhere.
That’s my comment.
I could write novels about how to take over the MSM and how to save newspapers. I can’t really comment too much on the interwebs, though. (I work for the LSM.) Let’s just say…Rush is “on the cutting edge of societal evolution.” If the Koch Brothers end up buying some of the Tribune papers, I will laugh my ass off. And if Rupert Murdoch buys some Tribune papers, too, I’ll laugh my ass off. Oh…the stories I could tell.
I would be most intrigued by your theories, and regaled by the stories no doubt.

What is so weird is that at least two of them are well known for being Left-wing, but they are old school left wing, not Marxists. One of them in particular, Martin Ferguson is a former President of the ACTU and he has come out against things that have been occuring including the mining tax and I am certain he is also against the Climate crap.
All day, one after the other they have been resigning and holding a press conference.
What is really odd is that the three who were the government whips resigned.
The one who has not resigned who was supposed to be a KRUDD supporter is Anthony Albanese or Albersleazy if you prefer. I am not sure of his real role but like I said he has remained standing and other “plotters” have pulled the plug.
All of these people seem to be the middle of the road type who are typical left-wing light.

Well, I’m disappointed too! A little? I am a WHOLE LOT! They should not be receiving Holy Communion (I know, this, most unfortunately, is too common). Think about this for a moment. We Catholics believe that Holy Communion is indeed the Sacred Body and Blood of Our Lord (Transubstantiation – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transubstantiation). This is Our Lord being struck in the face. And for all Christians, whatever we do “…in memory of (Me)” Him, we consider this sacred (No, we will not fanatically kill “infidels” like “others”). Our Lord only goes through His passion again because of this. I would not want to be in their shoes as they stand before the “Big Man” upstairs on judgement day. And as for the priest/priests that ministered to them, they too are responsible, as they are supposed to be defenders of the Faith and they know better. God (first), Family, and Country – in that order.
I remember that priest that denied communion to the lesbians that came into church. We need more like him. Unfortunately, he was rewarded by being removed from his diocese, and relocated to, I believe, a remote region.

Nailed by a squealer. He was an ex-dealer who probably had them as investments and wasn’t doing anything wrong except not keeping up with a brand new unconstitutional law, and the article treats him like he’s a criminal who must have been up to something. His only crime is that he didn’t move out of NY fast enough. It’s an ugly world out there right now.
I heard about that. No new laws were involved. The gun-owner who dropped a dime on him deserves a “special thanks” IYKWIM. Aside from having pistols w/o a permit, I don’t see what laws he broke. No deadlines past on compliance yet so just owning stuff is not a problem.
