I’ll start this open thread off with yet another example of something I’ve seen time and time again:

Those who can’t handle the truth,
try to silence those who speak it

  1. Feel free to talk about any topic of interest, but I do want to add a follow-up to the post above…

It’s been true for a very long time…

When Jesus was crucified, it wasn’t for any wrong that he had done, but rather because those who can’t handle the Truth, try to silence those who speak it.

Jesus’ disciples (with the exception of Judas) spoke the truth, and found that those who could handle the truth accepted it gladly, while those who couldn’t handle the truth tried to silence those who spoke it.

  2. I totally agree. I have also found that our true freinds are those who we can count on in a time on need. Whether it is spiritual or physical or emotional.
another point i would add (just a word of wisdom I have always taught my children) is that when you are out in the world you must be very careful of who you choose to associate with. When you acquire a “friend” and you try and live out a Christian life one of two things usually happen. You acquire a friend in Christ for life or you eventually become that persons conscience and if they choose not to change (and you hold fast in your beliefs)and you become the enemy and you will be the one who gets hurt the most. It takes a “man” to be a Christian!

  3. Knight4GFC says:

Those who speak the Truth, find out quickly that they become a very controversial topic in todays world. They are either loved or loathed. Agreeing with RP, one who speaks the Truth will go through heck and get hurt but must remain strong in our Lord remembering that before you, there was Truth, who went through heck as well. “All men will hate you because of Me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved” – Jesus.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
    (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

  4. Guys, what kind of background should we try out for the new site? I could throw up an “America the Beautiful” type photo. GFC or Knight, do you have any good Hawaii pics?

  5. solaratov says:

You could try something like this for a header………………

  6. Sol, I just read your reply to my AR-15 question from way back over on the Survival 101 thread at the Tree. Couldn’t agree more with your comments, and thanks for the info. I was just out with the family for dinner at a Mexican place last night, and was chewing out the youngest because he’s been letting me down on the research. He’s supposed to be finding me a good AK-47 clone for under a grand, and so far, nothing! Dang kids are just too busy looking at pRon or something! 🙂

  7. solaratov says:

Grunt…try these guys. Even with a transfer fee, you end up under a grand……

  8. MRM says:

So this is Where the Boys Are! (okay, “men”… but that’s not a movie title) Just stopping in to say hi, but will bookmark the site and be back soon. 🙂 I’m glad you landed somewhere fast – and thanks for the invite, Grunt!

  9. barnslayer says:

Good morning all! God Bless America. Let us go about this day doing God’s work.

  10. texan59 says:

I feel as though I just bought a big bottle of Listerine. My palate has been cleansed a bit. Thanks for the invite barn. 😀

    • Sorry it took a while to see you in moderation this morning, Tex. Good to see you, Bro.

    • Aloha Tex. Thanks for stopping by. Good to see ya. Don’t worry about Grunt right now, he is the moderation guy. 😉

      • texan59 says:

That certainly explains a lot! 😆 Howdy to all who’ve shown up today. I for one am gladful we have a lady in our midst. At least a little decorum is now in order!

        • There you go using those big words, Tex. Decor-what? We’ve had a woman in the house less than 24 hours and already you want to redecorate? I vote we dump Tex off the island. 😀

        • barnslayer says:

Decorum? This ain’t the Home &Garden Channel!

          • texan59 says:

I’ll tell bof y’az, I’ve seen a pitcher of MRM and whilst she shor is purdy, I think she can prolly whup the tar out of us. Some of that hai karate or sumpin’! I’m not gonna get on her bad side! 😉
As far as gettin’ kicked off the island, I’ve been kicked outa some the most interesting places you can find so I’ll just add it to my list. Kinda like that saying – I wouldn’t want to be a member of any club who’d have me! 😆 😆

            • Well crap! That messes up my plan. I was thinking of asking Sol if he wanted to make the drive to Indy next month to have lunch with MRM and some of the locals. If MRM’s purdy, then I’m not allowing Sol within 10 miles of her. Him being the lean, charming, lady-killer that he is. Don’t want to be responsible. I’m prolly going to Hell as it is! 😯

              • texan59 says:

And we know that Sol is older and wiser than us whippersnappers! 😀

              • Yeah, well, it ain’t hard to be wiser than some of us, IYKWIMAITTYD. Obviously, the way I shoot off my mouf, puts me squarely in that “not wise” category! 🙂

              • texan59 says:

BTW, I too will be in IN next month, I guess I don’t rate for dinner plans. Going up the end of the month for my 3&$*#5$%^&th HS class reunion. 😀

              • Seriously, Tex? You gonna be up by Grissom, north of Indy? If you want, I can email you some dates, and we’ll see if a dinner is possible. Also, I was actually serious about Sol maybe dropping by in July. Is that a possibility in July Sol? Let me know and I’ll send you some dates.

              • texan59 says:

My ETA is 7/27. My old hometown is located at:

                Latitude N 40.662327 Longitude W 86.241860

I will be in that general vicinity from 7/28 -7/30. Let me know your whereabouts and timeframe at the secret location.

              • Sorry, Tex, I had to go outside and wrap up a project. That late in the month is too late for us. Can you get those class reunion folks to move the date up? 😉 We have 2 narrow windows on 7/13 and 7/17 at the secret Indy location. (That just sounds dorky, doesn’t it? Like you’d hear Sean Connery talk about the “secret Indiana location.” *sigh*)

    • It’s great to see you, Tex. Thanks for coming to visit and hang out for a while!

      • texan59 says:

Gotta get somewhere that talks about some grown up things with a little fun on the side! Good to hear from ya RP.

  11. Great post Grunt and dittos on the add ons. I always carry a few things in the back country. Horse hair, curved stitching needle, iodine, alcohol (rubbing), alcohol flask (for the sticher lol) water, cold pak, hot pak and a bunch of medical bandages and wraps. I have used the needle more than once on a couple of 3-4the day excursions in the backwoods. That is why I never leave home without them. 🙂

  12. I just switched the theme from Kubrick to Twenty Ten… It gives a wider area for comments, so you can nest comments deeper without them being only an inch wide.

    How do y’all like it?

  13. MRM says:

Well, I thought I’d stop by to see what y’all have done with the Man Cave. And, while I have to compliment you on your handiwork, imagine my surprise to find I’ve been… gasp! talked about! Tex … ahem… I don’t know whether to say thanks or smack you upside the head! (the latter of which would, I s’pose, prove your point… ugh.) … anyway, carry on gentlemen. (and I use the term as loosely as possible!) I’m off to do wimmins stuff.. 😉

    • M, what do you mean you don’t know? Smack him upside the head! Of course! 😀 Sorry about the … er … atmosphere, in the man cave. We’re trying to clean it up. When you come back … I mean, IF you come back … we will treat you like the esteemed and valued lady contributor that you are. 🙂

      • MRM says:

hahaha! NO! Don’t change a thing, Grunt! I like knowing there are still real Man Caves around. I grew up around a bunch of old school guys and I miss ’em! 😉

    • texan59 says:

She’s shoppin’!! I’d ask ya to bring some beer back but I know that you’d have to be stealin’ it up there on a Sunday!

      • MRM says:

What??! You mean there are places that actually allow alcohol sales on a Sunday?? You must be from the future!! 🙂

        • texan59 says:

We can buy beer/wine here on Sundays. After noon. All bars/taverns/beer joints can also be open. No food sales necessary. We can buy beer/wine at a liquor store or convenience/grocery store. Liquor only at liquor stores who are closed on Sunday. M-S you can buy beer after 7:00 a.m. We also have a LOT of rehab places as well. 😀

          • MRM says:

okay, I admit… I have been in Texas on a Sunday before… Also? I once lived in Northern California, where even the smallest grocery store had fabulous wine, available around the clock. ummm, not that I was buying it ’round the clock… just sayin’.. As for our archaic Indiana laws, I’m convinced that alcohol sales on Saturday nights must be off the charts! 🙂

            • texan59 says:

At least you can carry out from a bar any night. That would be ideal for some of those long rides home! 😯

    • Shalini says:

You were stuck with these guys, all alone? Wow!!! I am impressed! Also, I think you should smack all of ’em upside the head. It would do them all a world of good! 😉

      • I like the new gravitar, Shalini! I grew up reading Calvin & Hobbes in the newspaper, and now my kids read the Calvin & Hobbes books that I have.. and I love to hear their giggles when they read them!

        • HA! Some of my kids are Calvin and Hobbes. lol

        • Shalini says:

Thank you, Red Pill. I think I’ve made no secret of being an ardent fan of CnH. I still read them in dailies even though I have the entire hard bound collection. Hey! May be, we could have a comics thread once in a while?

          • MRM says:

Great idea!! I LOVE Calvin & Hobbes! The dad in that strip always cracked me up! I once mused, out loud, about how funny it would be to teach one’s kids all the wrong color names and then send them off to school… heh.. My children were horrified! I thought it was hilarious! (no, I didn’t actually do it!) I also loved the old Far Side.

            • I know my colors, but to this day, I end up saying that something orange is “green”.

              Why?

Because one of my older brothers (6 years older than me) “programmed” me that way when I was pretty young. I didn’t find out that he had done that until one Thanksgiving I said something about the Pumpkin Pie being “green” (when it was the normal orange color). My Mom asked why I said that, and I told her that while I know the difference between the two, if I’m not consciously careful about it, I often slip up and call orange “green”. At that point, my older brother started belly laughing and said:

              “It worked!”

              He’s lucky I love him.
Otherwise, I’d have to kil him. 👿

      • MRM says:

Hee hee – well, now I have help!

DW’s birthday is coming up and I’m in quite a quandry. I’ve narrowed the gift down to two different items. I need some help as to which would be the better gift. This one:

    Or this one:

    shoes

Any and all suggestions are most welcome. Thanks y’all. 😀

  16. Anybody else notice that the site traffic is pushing 300 for today? Not much for a blog, but kind of a lot for one that’s only a few days old and that only 6 or 7 people even know about. My little Monte Cristo blog has never had more than 90 hits in a day. It usually runs under 20. What’s the deal?

    • Not much for a blog, but kind of a lot for one that’s only a few days old

Especially when you consider that the stats do not include views from site admininstrators. There are a lot of lurkers reading.

Howdy Treepers! Don’t be shy. You are warmly welcomed here.

        • Will posting this get me kicked out of the admin pool?

            • Perhaps I shouldn’t say this, but the truth has no agenda, and this is the truth…

On May 8th I wrote a post at TCT entitled “Wow!” that included the following map and a listing of visits from each country.

No personally identifiable information was released. But after a few hours, the post was deleted and I was removed from the admin group. In emails to the blog founder, I asked to be reinstated, and I was told that I had deleted the post and admin privileges myself. I tried for weeks to get a positive resolution, but was given the silent treatment. When I finally raised questions on TCT, the post itself (the Wal-Mart post) was closed to comments. I linked to it from the Friday open thread, was then challenged by the founder, I replied “truth has no agenda”, and I was banned, my comments were deleted, the Wal-Mart post was deleted, and the founder edited his comment to hide the fact that he had banned me. He then had the audacity to claim, in a later abusive comment to a different commenter, that he had “nothing to hide”.

Other commenters who stood up for truth were banned as well. I won’t name names, but it’s probably pretty obvious, and they can speak for themselves if they wish.

              • MRM says:

ahhhh… I missed all the drama, so did not know that. I vaguely remember a map of viewers and Shalini commenting about India, but I’d been pulling back from too much online activity at that point, and apparently I didn’t see whatever happened afterward. I found myself being way too involved in the everyday activity regarding TM / GZ and needed to pull back for my own sanity. It’s a shame, and, while I suppose we should all be used to it after HB, HT, etc., it does suck to have to reassess and move one’s online home. 😦

              • MRM says:

I should also say that I’m sorry all of you had to experience this. I know that our virtual relationships are just that, but over the years I’ve come to think of y’all as friends. And it hurts us all when those friendships are betrayed.

              • Thanks, MRM! I feel exactly the same way. Thank you for your friendship.

              • Knight4GFC says:

Those who speak Truth will be hurt in some ways or another. To speak Truth is to be controversial in today’s world. With that being said, I will say that it hurts all the more when a person is pushed out by the people he/she loves and trusts and was with from the beginning.

              • Mafia Rose says:

If only you could identify a common denominator between the three to prevent it from happening again in the future…

Grunt says: Rose, you are welcome here, but I, for one, would prefer that your first comment not be a thinly-veiled jab at SD. Yes, we’ve all got issues with him, but have agreed here that we would rather not dwell on him or other past acrimony from all 3 former sites you reference. RP was just answering a question after, perhaps, being a little too snarky. Since I would rather my first words to you not be a rebuke, let me start over. Welcome! We are trying to start fresh here. Please join us in that!

              • Welcome Mafia Rose.
I believe the only way for this not to happen again is to have the RIGHT foundation in the first place. Our Founding Fathers tried to instill this on America and it has done a pretty good job. It starts to unravel when you get the three messed up in priority. It should always have been and continue to be God, then Family and then Country. This is why the forces of evil must destroy the first two in order to concur the third. The problem is that you can take God our of the Country but you can’t take the People away from God. And “the people” make up this Country. Without the Good people you have no Country that is worth a darn. God is our ultimate Leader. You see it is my firm belief that we are His children, whom He happens to love very much, and like a good Father he will never ababndon His people. He has shown us the Truth, shown us the Light and that is the only Way to go.

              • Mafia Rose says:

No need to start over. I take responsibility for my own words, though I suppose my sarcasm will tend to get me in trouble more often than I would like. I don’t think my comment came across quite the way intended, as it was really a direct response to MRM (it wouldn’t allow replies any deeper), more than a jab at anyone. The intention was not to hold grudges or stir up trouble, but rather in hopes of repairing some of the damaged friendships to which she makes reference and to emphasize that it does not have to be the status quo. With that being said, I apologize for not choosing my words more carefully on such a sensitive subject.

Grunt says: Hey, then apology accepted, and I apologize for being too quick to assume. And I’m lifting my glass of bourbon right now in a toast to your sentiment of repairing old damages! Salud! 🙂

              • Ah, Blessed are the meek and the humble for they shall inherit the earth. 🙂

              • Amen to what GFC said! Salud! (Whoa. Gotta slow down here on the toasts.) 😉

              • So some of you with SD issues may comment, but others (especially newbies to this site, however far back THEIR SD issues may go) may not? Maybe you should have a rule book, for the ladies, you know? Not everyone is fluent in Guy.

              • Mafia Rose and FranklytheNut,
                Welcome!

Since I am the one who stirred the pot above, I owe you all a follow-up. And since this comment is already nested very deep, I’ll start a new comment at the bottom and link to it from here. That way, the new comment will have a fresh start for indented replies.

          • Shalini says:

You’ll have a dot from India now! 🙂

  17. Also, hey Sol! We need a gun post! You got any shooting topics on your mind?

NYC principal bars students from singing ‘God Bless the USA’ at graduation

    http://tinyurl.com/7ntg6ef

    • Don’t want to offend the satanists, I guess. 😦

    • “We don’t want to offend other cultures,” they quoted her as explaining.

      What about offending OUR culture?

And does the principlal have any evidence of anyone other than her being offended?

Parents — many immigrants from Pakistan, Mexico and Ecuador — “love it,” Lozada said.

A teacher agreed: “It makes them a little goosebumpy and teary-eyed. I’ve never come across anyone who felt it insulted their culture.”

      The story continues:

Department of Education spokeswoman Jessica Scaperotti gave The Post an explanation staffers said they never heard — that Hawkins found the lyrics “too grown up” for 5-year-olds.

The song starts: “If tomorrow all the things were gone, I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife, I’d thank my lucky stars, to be livin’ here today.”

Scaperotti said the department supports the principal’s decision. “The lyrics are not age-appropriate,” she said.

But Justin Bieber’s flirty song about teen romance, “Baby,” was deemed a fine selection for the show. Hawkins had no problem with 5-year-olds singing lines such as, “Are we an item? Girl, quit playing.”

So, it’s acceptable to teach 5-year-olds about teen romance, but not acceptable to sing about love of country?

I remember being in 1st grade and being taught to sing:

      My country, ’tis of thee,
      Sweet land of liberty,
      Of thee I sing;
      Land where my fathers died,
      Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
      From ev’ry mountainside
      Let freedom ring!

  22. Knight4GFC says:

Start em off young. That way by the time they are grown up, they will fit perfectly in the new socialistic One World Order. Patriotism is bad. You might offend another culture.
If you don’t like our American culture, and think our patriotism is offensive, then get the heck out of my country!
    American! Tea Party! Homegrown!

    • You want to make a post out of this, Tex? This is good stuff! I don’t think you’re an admin yet, but we’ll work on that if you want. Meantime, maybe one of us can post it. I’ll work on that as I slog through this hellish workday. Arrrgh!

      • barnslayer says:

Grunt you mentioned something yesterday about a gun post. Sounds like a good idea.

      • texan59 says:

Right now I don’t really have the time. I’m in and out all the time. I appreciate the offer but my skills on here are somewhat limited to posting snarky comments and occasionally finding a good link. Will keep it in mind and thank you for the offer. 😉

  23. AFinch says:

Hey guys and MRM! I just read about this place over at Grunt’s site and thought I’d check it out. I look forward to reading more from all of you.

  24. MRM says:

A while back, I saw a post somewhere that describes communism, socialism, and the free market in terms of a citizen with a cow (pig? chicken?). Does anyone here have that or remember what it was? As I remember it, it was meant to be funny, but it did describe in very simple terms the basic differences. Or, if you know of something similar that is suitable for use with elementary school kids, I’d really appreciate a link. Thanks!

  25. MRM says:

    Awesome!! Thanks RP! 🙂

  26. Priority #1: God

My hope is this blog is a place where people speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Jesus is the truth, and Satan is the father of lies.

A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

    Proverbs 6:19

We’ve all seen our fair share of discord sown among the brethren (and sister-en :-)) by those who have lied and tried to cover up their lies.

My hope is that we all (myself included) strive to speak the truth in love, and grow up in all things into Him who is the head —Christ—.

I know that we all (again, myself included) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

And I would like for all of us to strive for the following:

Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

    Ephesians 4:25-32

  27. Priority #2: Family

I consider everyone that I have commented with at the following blogs as “family”: (in roughly the order in which I started commenting there…)

    HotAir
    Michelle Malkin
    Texas Darlin
WTPOTUS (We The People of the United States)
    Dr. Kate’s View
    Natural Born Citizen
    HillBuzz
    Honey Trail
    The Conservative Treehouse
    Polination
    4GFC

When you have a big family, there’s bound to be both a lot of love, as well as some very heated arguments. You hope there’s never an ugly divorce, and you hope that you aren’t forced to “choose sides”.

Sometimes, you might even see a couple that first married, then later divorced, then came to reconcile and actually re-marry each other. I personally have seen that happen, and it really is a joyous thing.

Love and Trust and TRUTH are a foundation upon which other things are built. Without those, the foundation is shifting sand, and the house is sure to fall when the storms inevitably come.

What happened recently at one of the sites listed above is that an admin acted dishonestly. They took down a post I wrote, and removed my admin privileges. Then they lied and denied having done so. The founder of said blog trusted them and accused me, without proof, of being the one who had deleted my own post and admin privileges. The founder is doing yeoman’s work in telling the truth about the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman case and exposing the lies of the “mainstream” media. I truly applaud his work on that case. But that case has consumed almost all of his attention, and he did not show a similar interest in seeking the truth in my case. Instead, he accused me without evidence and called me “crazy”. When he challenged me and I replied, “Truth has no agenda.”, he BANNED me! Then, when others stood up for the truth, he banned them, too. And he’s deleted things along the way to cover up his actions.

That behavior reminded many of us of the behavior we had seen at a prior blog. I am not saying that those two blog founders are exactly the same. Far from that. But I do think that priorities got out of alignment, and as a fellow family member said,

“What’s the point about fighting for truth and transparency in the outside world if you can’t be bothered about it in your own family?”

The Truth has no agenda. I would welcome a reconciliation and investigation of the truth.

    • I do not believe you will get either reconciliation or investigation of the truth from the “founder.” That’s my opinion. I have no objection to being proven wrong. I HOPE he is doing “yoeman’s work” on the Trayvon Martin case; I know that previously he has used another’s work without attribution, under his own byline, on the blog. I accidentally stumbled across the original after reading “his” writing on the subject. It was dated before his post, and nearly word-for-word. Any questions I had about his veracity, or whose side I should have taken in the previous dust-up, were resolved on that day. The original author was very interested to hear that his work was being claimed by another writer. (And when this gets back to him, it will be, I believe, the first time he knows how he was “outed”. I make no apology. Once I knew he hadn’t written it, reading the repeated accolades he was accepting from other posters on the “frilliance” of HIS writing, simply enraged me!)

    • Well said, RP. FtN & MR, I really did not mean to jump all over newbies or necessarily quench all discussion of the past. But, at a risk of asking you both “why can’t you be more like your sister?”, 😀 , I just thought it was a little quick to be jumping into that before introducing yourselves. Chrissy did a nice job of making an introduction, and even though you blog on PoliNation with her, many of us don’t know you. How about an intro first, Sis? 🙂

Do you really want the truth or just to feel good? Search Lucienne’s posts for comments that were made by the founder way back when there was a split from the Honey Trail, I believe it was.
Then look for the common denominator from all the cluster farks…all the way back to HB. There’s the truth.

    • Personally, I think KdJ should get the entire credit for HB going thermonuclear. He was hateful to a poster, and then doubled down when people called him on it. He didn’t need any “help” with that!

      • Mafia Rose says:

You are absoluetly right, Frankly, but I’ve come to suspect over time that there were some things going on behind the scenes that contributed to his horrendous behavior. I don’t have any details, just a hunch, but I do know which poster was banned first. Housemom, I know you and I had a disagreement on the Nov 7th thread (I think), but I think perhaps you had a better grasp on some of the finer nuances than the rest of us, having met him in person and all.

Whatever the scenario, though, you’re right Susan. Most of us left because of his behavior, not because we were banned or anything else.

  29. Maybe because we “know” you and have read your posts elsewhere for so long, it didn’t occur to us that you hadn’t noticed us, too?

    • If you’re talking about me, I HAVE noticed you all. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need an intro. How about “hi!”?

      • Well, if that’s the case (and who knew guys were so nuanced on social delicacy?), I’m the same contrarian I was on HB and HT. At 64, I consider it to be pretty much an incurable condition.

      • Mafia Rose says:

See, Frankly, now you’ve beat me to it. I was going to say introductions are too low-key for us (We prefer to leave a more lasting impression!), but your house, your rules…I’ll start. This is Frankly…she’s a nut! But, frankly, she’s our nut. She’s one tough cookie, so I wouldn’t mess with her. And if you do ever get into an argument…errr, discussion…with her, she will probably use words you don’t understand. It’s a goo idea d to keep a thesaurus on hand at all times!

        • OK, if you’re talking about “rejectamenta” (and where does that leave Pete, I ask you?), I made that up. Is there really such a word? Who needs a thesaurus when you have an imagination? Well, off to the salt mines.

        • Actually, there are no house rules, except the Golden one. But the request for intro was well-intentioned. How about you, MR?

          • Mafia Rose says:

Who me? Everybody knows who I am. I’m IN-famous! What is there to say? I’m Mafia Rose, but a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Seriously, though, if any information were revealed about who I am or what I have done, a person could get hurt…IRL! Just ask around. Folks will tell you. I think that about sums it up…unless anyone else has anything to add. Oh…”Hi!”

            • People HAVE been hurt in real life, and you know that. I don’t find that so friggin’ funny, MR. If I knew your intentions, maybe I would. If you won’t explain, how am I to tell?

              • Mafia Rose says:

Look…you’ve been on me since the beginning, making up rules as you go about supposed violations I’ve made and things I’ve said wrong. Sorry, but people don’t introduce themselves as a standard rule on blogs. The people I was replying directly to know me, so there was no need for introduction. I have tried repeatedly to patch things up and lighten the mood, but obviously have failed miserably. It’s clear that I’m not welcome here and I have no interest in walking on any more eggshells today. I’ve done enough of that. Good luck with your blog!

              • MR, I’m not making up any rules, and I’m sorry to have been on you from the beginning. I’m guilty of that, but only because you are coming into a tight-knit community and being rude out of the chute without any explanation. Your buddies know you; I don’t, and neither do any of us except for Red Pill. You imply guys know nothing about manners, but I would never barge into Polination with baggage like that, without a little explanation when asked. ADD: And I apologize if I took you lighthearted attempt at humor the wrong way, but given that most of us are aware of plenty of RL hurt spread around, your comment about hurting people, from someone who chose to rename herself Mafia Rose, frankly raised my hackles. Can you blame me? We are trying to say what we mean around here, because we iz dumb guys, mostly. Humor us. 😉

            • “Folks”? Who needs “folks” when you have a single “folk”–one who can be trusted, of course–with a pointy finger, a chosen victim, and a keyboard? Oh, yes, sycophants help, too.

              • Yes, people have been hurt in real life, and Mafia Rose was, to the best of my knowledge, SD’s first sacrificial lamb. You don’t have to instruct HER on IRL hurt!

              • I’m aware of that, dadburnit [stronger expletive deleted ;)], and I’m also aware that she’s not the only one. There are others reading this right now were also hurt IRL who are being further hurt by her comments. Does she realize that?

              • OK, Mafia Rose can do what she wants to help out with this problem. Here’s my contribution: I’ll stick to the people who know me, with whom I am able to be snarky without fear of misunderstandings, and where I can take a step without worrying about treading on someone’s toes. For me, that place already exists. I will expeditiously beat a prudent retreat to my personal safe zone–unlike MacArthur, I shall not return. However, before I go, please let me point out to you that I, not Mafia Rose, am the one who made the “rude” joke about male manners, for which I sincerely apologize. I think that if you’re going to be firing shots you need to be careful to select the appropriate target. Otherwise, someone might get hurt. Have fun, gentlemen–may your community grow and prosper.
Grunt says: I, for one, will not hold either one of you to the “will not return” promise, because I hope you do. And I rather liked your joke about male manners, Frankly. But no matter what, I hope you both know that we are sympathetic to your past hurts, but hope you can respect that we really, REALLY want to move on from it.

            • Seriously, though, if any information were revealed about who I am or what I have done, a person could get hurt…IRL! Just ask around. Folks will tell you.

There’s been so much drama from HB to HT to TCT that my head spins trying to keep it all straight. Let’s just try to have a fresh start here. I don’t think any of the admins here are interested in intentionally revealing who the commenters are, and I don’t think there was any threat made against you. But your “Seriously, though, … a person could get hurt…IRL!” sounds like a potentially serious IRL threat. Please be sensitive to that. Maybe I’m reading too much into your comment, maybe I’m not.

To the best of my knowledge, no one here has done you harm, and I hope that you mean no harm to anyone else here.

Brethren and sister-en, let us all keep the following in mind:

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

              Philippians 3:12-14

              • Dee says:

Oh Red Pill, please know that there are a whole lot of inside jokes being displayed here that we may assume y’all understand and you do not. Mafia was merely quoting a line used during our break up with HT. It’s said in jest, and it is in no way a threat to you or yours. Mafia Rose is quite funny, but I’m afraid you’d have to know her to ‘hear’ her tone in that post and be well versed in history of our HT break up. I promise it is in no way is a threat. Oh, and hi! I sometimes comment on PoliNation, heck, I think I’m an admin over there but I never do anything with it. I started at HB, then HT, then Poli.

              • Hey Dee! I know your comment is for Red Pill, but I just want to thank you for the explanation. It’s prolly me who mostly doesn’t get the jokes. Not the first time! 🙂

        • Mafia Rose and FranklytheNut,
I hope you forgive us our initial eggshells. You’re welcome to visit again, and hopefully we’ll be able to move forward. I understand that there are a lot of hurt feelings about the past at other blogs, and I’m guilty of being a bit snarky about it above a few days ago. But I really do think it’s best if we forgive each other and move on. Sometimes we are very tempted to talk about it, and maybe we need to allow a little bit of “I just need to get this off my chest”, but if we do, let’s try to stick to just the facts that we are willing to prove, and avoid anything even approaching ad hominem attacks on anyone else, including those not commenting but possibly reading.

I will say *Hi* and that it’s good to see some of the names I recognized from HB, HT and other places. You may not remember me but I’ve been around for a while now. 59yr old disabled vet, granny and all around troublemaker!

    • Good to see you, too, HM! Welcome!

    • chrissythehyphenated says:

Hey, Housemom! I’m a 58 yo disabled granny, but the military wouldn’t take me. Good thing. I had the undiagnosed beginnings of the disease. Boot camp would’ve probably pushed me into disability a lot sooner. Not so much a troublemaker. I hate confrontation. Another reason I probably wouldn’t have done well in the military. Not sure how I managed to raise 2 daughters who now are veterans! LOL

      • freedom1781 says:

Hi Chrissy! I remember you from HB. I was a lurker there and loved your Site Bites. Good to “see” you here!

    • freedom1781 says:

Welcome! In which branch of the military did you serve?

      • freedom1781 says:

Oops….. ^^ this comment ^^ was for Housemom!

        • housemom1952 says:

freedom1781…I joined the Women’s Army Corp straight out of high school, 1970…1973. I was the first female 71N20 (Transportation Specialist). When my MOS class graduated I was the only one that didn’t get orders to Viet Nam. Instead I got sent to Oakland Army Base where my job was shipping men and supplies to VN and counting caskets (returning from VN) and ordering flags..very depressing job.
As for walking on egg shells…I have trod that path myself on some of these groups… I will lurk occasionally to get the feel of the land, if you don’t mind.
I will say that I *know* FtN and MR and others that are here and have always enjoyed their posts.
Got stung by some on HB and am cautious now…
And Chrissy…I have missed you sweetie!
