While I love my katana and wakizashi, my training (years ago) was mostly with the foil (rapier) and a bit with the sabre (right before I had to choose swords or studies. What a hard decision!). Eastern blades are neato, and Damascus are pretty, but never underestimate how much better modern steel is in general over older steel. They needed those intricate, tedious processes for a reason. And if what you want is speed and agility, rapiers and rapier-like blades are where it’s at.

Definitely well worth the watch. It’s long, but it’s thought provoking.
    What do you all think?

Heh. How’d you like my own title? I tried that alliteration thing method stuff. I made it.

Stuff it Oblamer. I made that. Beaotch.

BwahHAHAHAH! But, don’t let up. Feinstein “The-Big-Forehead” will try it again.
Incidentally, in an unrelated topic, her eyes look like rodent eyes…. poke. poke. I wished I was related to her, only so I could provoke her to certain madness and beyond…and she wouldn’t be able to do squat about it other than go directly to a mental institution with a straightjacket on to bounce around a rubber room. She is one crazy old wrinkled and wretched bat. I hope she falls down a vacant elevator shaft from the 13th floor…and then slowly burns in hell.

Not that I’m hateful or anything.

    witch.

  5. Shalini says:

Happy St. Joseph’s feast day. One of my most favourite saints. I don’t care what you say Grunt, he’s awesome.

    • zmalfoy says:

Grunt has a problem with St. Joe? (I agree, St. Joseph is pretty cool and is too easily looked over. . .). Happy feast of St. Joseph, Shalini!

      • Shalini says:

You too, Zoph! 🙂 I may get into trouble for this but I do recall Grunt saying something about St. Joseph being useless to Christian warriors with regards to some of the things they are required to do. I may be paraphrasing. He did explain himself in detail but I haven’t gotten over that. What with my fierce fondness for him. St. Joe, I mean. 😀

      • ZurichMike says:

It’s a big deal in Italian and Italian-American families. There’s a special pastry called “zeppole”, a cream-filled concoction, that is only made for this feast day. If you are around an Italian bakeshop, run and grab one or two or ten. Mmmmmm.

        • We’re not Italian, but it’s a big deal in my family, too. Since Jesus’ step-dad deserves some recognition we usually suspend our Lenten sacrifices for the day and celebrate. In fact, I’m going to go get some chocolate right now, and we’ll have a nice dinner tonight with some good wine. Maybe Gruntessa will try to whip up some zeppole for dessert. That sounds like a great idea! Thanks, ZMike!

    • Happy Feast of St. Joe! I actually just remembered late last night, or I would have put him on the OT photo. You’re so mean to take my words out of context, Shal! 🙂 You know I love St. Joe. He’s always been my model of how to be a good father and husband. I just said he was “useless” as a model for those called to be warriors because he was not a fighter. Man, I really have to be careful what I say around you. You remember everything! 😯

Just for that, I’m reposting this spy photo of you on the road with your brother and nieces and nephews. Take that! Heh!

Pope Francis: ‘Be Protectors of God’s Gifts!’

      http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/2013/03/19/Pope-Francis-Be-Protectors-of-God-s-Gifts

      “The pontiff preached:
How does Joseph exercise his role as protector? Discreetly, humbly and silently, but with an unfailing presence and utter fidelity, even when he finds it hard to understand. From the time of his betrothal to Mary until the finding of the twelve-year-old Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem, he is there at every moment with loving care. As the spouse of Mary, he is at her side in good times and bad, on the journey to Bethlehem for the census and in the anxious and joyful hours when she gave birth; amid the drama of the flight into Egypt and during the frantic search for their child in the Temple; and later in the day-to-day life of the home of Nazareth, in the workshop where he taught his trade to Jesus.”

    • Knight4GFC says:

Same to you Shalini! And to all here! Yes Saint Joseph is indeed a great Saint. If you ask me, I think Saint Joseph is a GREAT example for the man of the house, the father, the husband, the man who toils for his family, and a GREAT example of purity, humility, obedience to God, etc…
Saint Joseph was a carpenter, a blue collared worker! 🙂 So in his respect I will post this prayer:
“Prayer to St. Joseph the Workman
Composed by Pope St. Pius X
O glorious St. Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my natural inclinations, to work with gratitude and joy, in a spirit of penance for the remission of my sins, considering it an honor to employ and develop by means of labor the gifts received from God, to work with order, peace, moderation and patience, without ever shrinking from weariness and difficulties, to work above all with purity of intention and detachment from self, having always death before my eyes and the account that I must render of time lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success, so fatal to the work of God. All for Jesus, all through Mary, all after thine example, O Patriarch, St. Joseph. Such shall be my watchword in life and in death. Amen.”

    • Harvey says:

Yesterday Coyote asked what happened to Colorado as Hickenlooper prepares to sign magazine limitations. I was not aware of this, but it seems to be open knowledge that out of state left-wing activists flooded Denver last November (note that this is before Newtown) to push gun control legislation here. Now apparently they have flocked to Florida to push the same stuff there. People, myself included, are just not prepared for how well-funded and targeted this assault on the Constitution is.

      • I suppose we are also vulnerable because the Demos control the legislature, and they have probably been given “instructions” through the same party apparachiks who threatened the sheriff’s depts with funding problems if they didn’t line up behind the measures.

  10. Here’s something we won’t be having for dinner tonight. Or ever…

    • freedom1781 says:

Is that supposed to be chicken-flavored tofu? Gross.

    • zmalfoy says:

It’s vegetarian. Ham. That tastes like chicken?

I imagine it’s none of those, in reality . . . (ew, man. gross)

    • Knight4GFC says:

      YUCK!!! We call tofu, “toadfood”.

    • barnslayer says:

And why would a vegetarian want to eat something that tastes like ham or chicken? Doesn’t that kinda conflict with the idea of being a vegetarian?

      • Shalini says:

I don’t know where this picture is from but I’ve heard from non-vegetarian Hindus in countries like Malaysia that these kind of mock meats are exclusively available for people like them and not proper vegetarians. Sometimes they have to forego meat for extended periods of time (Like, say, a year) if there is a death in the family. But I have no idea what a chicken flavoured vegetarian ham tastes like nor do I ever intend to find out!

    Just because…..

  13. Joy!
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said on Monday that a controversial assault weapons ban will not be part of a Democratic gun bill that was expected to reach the Senate floor next month.
After a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday, a frustrated Feinstein said she learned that the bill she sponsored — which bans 157 different models of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines — wouldn’t be part of a Democratic gun bill to be offered on the Senate floor. Instead, it can be offered as an amendment. But its exclusion from the package makes what was already an uphill battle an almost certain defeat.

    • freedom1781 says:

By taking out the extreme AWB part now the Dem’s gun control bill has a slightly better chance at passing. Harry Reid is evil.

      • Didn’t mean to duplicate this item, since it’s basically the same story as Coyote posted up top from Breitbart. It’s just another article about it. And you’re right that this could be bad news in the long run if Harry’s bill passes. I just can’t help being happy that this psycho bill won’t be a part of things. Just a little.

  15. Bob had a really good post over on her site about the bizarre spam she gets:
    http://bluebirdofbitterness.wordpress.com/2013/03/17/awesome-post-for-read-i-hope-everyone-enjoy/
In the comments, the Bard of Murdock gave her some praise, causing her to prompt him for a limerick about spam (maybe because it was near St. Pat’s day). I jumped in with:

In Hawaii, they can’t get enough,
    Of that magical mystery stuff.
    It comes in a can.
You fry it up in a pan.
But who knows what critter it’s made of?

Oh… you meant the other kind of spam. 😳

So then, she slammed me with:

Although your attempt is not pure schlock,
And might be thought clever on your block,
    I have to be blunt:
    Your name, sir, is Grunt,
And my question was directed to Murdock.

I just want you guys to know how vicious Bob is. Shalini isn’t the only one who lays the mean on thick. Bob rarely shows it here on our site, but she gets me pretty good over on BoB or PN. She’s more like a BoBBUtH. Bluebird of Baseball Bat Upside the Head. Heh. 🙂
