  1. Any opinions about this billboard? I personally like it. I saw some of the “local response” last night, and I was a little disgusted, myself, at how hollow the complaints were. They say it “makes light” of past Indian suffering. No it doesn’t. It affirms it and warns us about making the same mistakes. They say it “exploits Native Americans.” Really? It strikes me as respectful. I’ve lived and worked in the West a long time, in and around the reservations and with many individuals of mixed heritage (myself included) whom I respect, and I’m sympathetic to their backgrounds and plights. But this is stupid and just another empty parroting of the senseless claim that any portrayal of traditional Indian garb is “exploitation.” My Irish heritage is important to me, but when I see Irish characterizations, do I yell “exploitation?” No. That would be stupid. When a black 2nd Amendment group made a video showing the importance of gun rights in view of the history of lynchings in 19th century America, was that exploitation? No, and not just because it was done by a group that self-identified as “black.” It was a good message that respected and valued the lessons of the past.

I get what you’re saying. But the Japanese-American relocation centers might be closer to the truth (or even the nazi labor camps). I doubt the “reservations” the liberals would like to stick us in would be as agreeable as what the Indians got. And nobody is gonna give us sovereign status allowing us to have our own casinos. I certainly don’t see this billboard as insulting to the Indians. I wonder if the person “of native American decent” is full of sitting bull… like Elizabeth Warren. Ask the real deal Indians if it bothers them.

    • What is wrong with the TRUTH? Except for the fact that many don”t want it!!!! Of course they don”t want to be exposed to the TRUTH, it might just shine some LIGHT and dispatch the darkness. It might also mean that they are WRONG? No that’s not possible is it?! So they go on in the darkness of their deceits, lies and death!
      BTW love the sign πŸ™‚

Most people don’t want the truth. They want to think the gov’t. is their warm and fuzzy blanket. Most under the age of 40 have been taught that since the first day they went to indoctrination classes, er, school. People have been told that their every need will be taken care of – free food, free school, free housing, and utilities, free contraceptives. They have not been taught about human dignity, human exceptionalism. They are convinced that they cannot make it on their own. So many truly are sheep being led to the slaughter. And they don’t know it, or seem to care.

    • There was a billboard I wanted to post a picture of that had Obama with Chavez along with the caption of Stop Socialism. The only copy I could find online was on a liberal blog with the person blogging that the billboard was racist. What they didn’t notice was that at the very bottom of the billboard was the group that sponsored it, which was a Hispanic Republican political group. They are so busy being political correct that they don’t see the forest for the trees.

If the native Indians agreed to the billboard then what is the big deal?

    • I think the billboard makes a very valid point. Those who were historically told to trade their arms in return for government protection and provision were usually, in the end, disappointed in the outcome…

He who would trade liberty for some temporary security,
      deserves neither liberty nor security.

        Another good quote:

β€œIf ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
        ― Samuel Adams

Well, I have some news, I am now a grand-mother to a Sumo wrestler!! Her name is Claire Elizabeth and she weighed in at 11lb 6 ozs. That is a whopping size for a baby who is 2 weeks premature and after a Caesarian section. Her mother is doing well. My son has pictures of his daughter not long after she was born, and seriously she looked like a Sumo wrestler.

BTW the mother has diabetes 1 and that might have something to do with it, but not sure because the baby gained more than 1kg or 2lbs in roughly one week.

    • Congrats, Aus! That’s a big girl! Our last one looked like a sumo wrestler, but he was only 10lb. I’m glad mom is ok!

    • texan59 says:

Congrats. There is a reason that men don’t have babies, and that is certainly one of them. πŸ™‚

    • barnslayer says:

Congratulations! Warning… keep your fingers away from her mouth, you may not get them all back.

    • Well congrats Aussie! That is quite a butterball ;). My wife’s last one (a girl) was l0 (had to space it here cause it looked like 101bs LOL) lbs-3oz’s which followed our last boy who was 10.0lbs. Girls rule this one at our place. Of course our “baby” is 12 going on 21. Being the 10the she was already grown up at the ripe ole age of 6. LOL
PS… don’t let my wife see your new one…she just might steal it!
God Bless The Newborn child and the parents (and grandparents) who bore this glorious new life.

    • ZurichMike says:

Glad everyone is OK. Best wishes to all.

      • Aussie says:

thanks Mike. Mother and daughter are doing well πŸ™‚

Mother is a diabetic so this was a pregnancy that was watched carefully. The only problem is that the baby after birth was a bit low on the blood sugar and so she had been monitored to ensure that everything was ok.
