  2. From one of the wealthiest cities (THE wealthiest city?) in America in the 1950’s to completely bankrupt in 2013. Detroit has had DEMOCRAT mayors since January 2, 1962.

Five decades of pure Democrat policies made Detroit a “Riches to Rags” story.

The pictures at the top show something more than just poverty of bankruptcy. These buildings have not only decayed from neglect (the poverty part) but they have been maliciously attacked, vandalized… trashed. To what end? There is no financial relief to be gained by spray painting a house, scattering school books or dumping over a piano. It shows a rampant disregard for property and the law. For whatever reason, law enforcement appears to be absent as well. The problem here is obviously not money. The problem is a morally bankrupt society aka liberalism.

  6. The Left’s answer to the deficit: raise taxes to protect spending. The Left’s answer to the weak economy: raise taxes to enable new spending. The Left’s answer to the looming sovereign-debt crisis: raise taxes to pay off old spending. For the Left, every deficit is a revenue-side problem, not a spending-side problem, and the solution to every economic problem is more spending, necessitating more taxes. The problem with that way of looking at things is called Detroit… Detroit is what liberalism’s end-game looks like.

  8. Imagine a city where all the major economic planks of the statist or “progressive” platform have been enacted:

•A “living wage” ordinance, far above the federal minimum wage, for all public employees and private contractors.

•A school system that spends significantly more per pupil than the national average.

•A powerful school employee union that militantly defends the exceptional pay, benefits and job security it has won for its members.

•A powerful government employee union that does the same for its members.

•A tax system that aggressively redistributes income from businesses and the wealthy to the poor and to government bureaucracies.

Would this be a shining city on a hill, exciting the admiration of all? We don’t have to guess, because there is such a city right here in our state: Detroit
