Can you guess where this is? Gruntessa and I spent the night (last night) on this island, overlooking this marina, in the hotel at far right in the photo.

1. It’s in the United States, but just barely.
2. It’s a small island, reachable only by boat or plane.
3. A large number of Jamaicans work here, but it’s not Jamaica.
4. It’s famous this time of year as the destination of a yacht race, which has included America’s Cup racers, such as the Stars and Stripes.
5. Even though there are many roads on the island, Google will never be able to provide streetside views on any of them, and there’s a practical reason, not a legal one.

Harvey guessed that it was Mackinac Island, home of Fort Mackinac, cannons, horses and ugly, bald tourists.DSCF0842

Helen Thomas, trailblazing reporter, dead at 92
I’m not one to speak ill of the dead,so lets just say this anti-Semitic socialist crone will scarcely be missed at Casa Pistol. She had a seat of favor in the front row at pressers and was always allowed the courtesy of the first question.Whoever it was who said there was no such thing as a stupid question never talked to this Lebanese Lizard.

    Makinac Island?

I thought it was returned to him right after the trial.

      • barnslayer says:

FBI (Holder) ordered a hold on all trial evidence. I don’t know if that would prevent him from buying another one right now. He can have one of mine in a trade as long as he autographs his. Hello Gunbroker!

Do You possibly see anything going on here? I mean seriously the islamic cult and it’s desire to kill all who do not bow before them. HELLO is anybody in our Government have eyes to see and strength enough to just say or call this evil cult what it IS, EVIL? There are worst things then dying for ones one faith. How can anyone fight when they can’t recognize who their enemy is. Does anyone remember “Love the sinner, HATE the sin.” Well Islam is the sin and the EVIL and we will never get anywhere as long we skirt calling it for what it is!!! TRUTH, darn it, just speak the TRUTH!

    • The darn shame is the majority of Americans have to much gray (smoke) in their eyes are are not able to see the Truth anymore even if it is right before their eyes. The “Gray” comes from a lack of a PERSONAL relationship with God. It has to be a personal one, has to be! Not some gathering on Sun. or Sat.. It has to be a one on one relationship to desire to love and know God. Only if you have this personal relationship can you have something to offer to your spouse, children, community, Country and fellow Christians. America today is a testament to this failure. Seek Him out everyday in your life. LISTEN! We have so much trash all around us to fill our every desire, how can we hear the Spirit of God without making the time to do so on a personal level.
If we want to be strong and offer each other our fellowship (like we do here on 4GFC) then we must walk the higher road. Don’t let the battles become personal ones. Though they feel that way they are a front to your God and what you believe in. Does it hurt persoanally? Yeah sometimes but we have to remember who the enemy is and how he conducts his battles through other people. If we allow it to become personal then we will lose the battle in the long run. The battle will always be about what is evil (in different degrees) against what is good. Good and bad cannot co-exist! That is wrong. One will eventually concur the other. Remember Christ is the LIGHT and where there is LIGHT there cannot be any darkness! In many ways this Truth is what has brought us together here at 4GFC. A seperation from another place that was bound to happen because WE seek the TRUTH which does not lie within ourselves but comes from above. This is not about me, not about you! It is and always will be about the TRUTH and that is our best WEAPON! Where there is TRUTH the evil will run and hide because he hates to be exposed to the TRUTH! Even if we make mistakes God will eventually open our eyes to the TRUTH because we seek It and desire It and ask God for It. He will never give us a snake when we ask Him for bread! Never. Truth has no agenda but that of itself! So my fellow 4GFCers hang on to your light and never cover the lampstand.

Lord, I pray that we would be led by Your hand, and that You alone will guide us down the way that You would have us to go. We know You speak to us in many different ways, so I also ask that when You speak; we will recognize that it is You. Help us to hear and recognize Your voice, and do Your will.

We recognize that we need You desperately, and ask that we would sense Your presence in every aspect of our lives.ย

Let us acknowledge You in all that we do in daily life, because Your Word says :ย  โ€œIn all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.โ€ย  (Proverbs 3:6) We believe and trust in You Lord, and know we can rely on You!

We love You and praise You!โ€ ย Amen.

    Something to ponder……

    And, just because……

  6. 5. Even though there are many roads on the island, Google will never be able to provide streetside views on any of them, and thereโ€™s a practical reason, not a legal one.

I’m assuming that means there are no automobiles on the island, but that hasn’t stopped Google from going here and here.

and a lot of other cool places…

    • Good point! And good thinking, Red. It IS because there are no autos allowed. Only horses and bikes. But so far, Google has not sent special storm troopers with backpack-mounted 360 deg digital imaging equipment.

  7. solaratov says:

It wouldn’t be Isle Royale, would it?

    • Good guess. We were actually across the border north of Superior today, and we came really close to catching a boat to Isle Royale. I’ve always wanted to set foot on it, but no dice this time. It’s a little more interesting than Mackinac, where you see a lot more tourists and you can buy Starbucks, but IR has the timber wolves and moose out the kazoo.

  8. ZurichMike says:

Where’s you hat? You’ll get a scalp sunburn that will really, really hurt. And could lead to skin cancer. (And don’t say “I have one father already, thank-you-very-much”).

Regards from ZurichMike, who bears a striking resemblance to that oh-so-handsome bald guy with the beard (although mine is grey, owing to advanced age and the stress of not minding my own business). ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks, Dad. You’re right, of course. ๐Ÿ˜ณ At least about the sunburn. I should be better about the hat thing, but it’s sooooo nice to be out in the sun and feel the wind in your scalp.

    • Don’t worry, ZMike — Grunt survived. I know, because I had lunch with him today. And his lovely wife and their handsome teenage son. What a fun day! We were laughing most of the time. ๐Ÿ˜€
