Grunt and Gruntessa became grandparents yesterday for the first but hopefully not the last time. This is not their beautiful little granddaughter, but a reasonable facsimile, many months older. I don’t actually know what she looks like yet, but hope to find out today. Meanwhile, I need to find a good cigar for the celebration.

Congratulations, Grunt, Gruntessa and the very happy parents. I had been praying and wondering for the past few days. I finally decided to check out the site for any good news today as today is my nephew’s first birth day and I was just reading about the Baptist’s birthday in “The Poem of Man-God”. Sure seemed like signs to me! πŸ˜€ I am so happy for you all!!!

  4. Knight4GFC says:

Well hey there Grandpa! πŸ˜€ Congratulations Grunt and Gruntessa! A new Life in the family is such a joy and blessing from God!

  5. Harvey says:

Well, congratulations!! Anticipating a little redhead, eh?

  6. Thanks and blessings to you all for your kind congrats! It really is a joy to have a new little one around. That’s something we need more of, not fewer. I don’t know yet about the redhead, Harv, but she’s supposed to be blonde-ish. With lots of Irish on both sides of her family, who knows? All I know for sure is that she was almost 8 lbs and over 21 inches, and her mother says she’s “perfect.” Of course. All babies are. πŸ˜€

  7. Ginni Thomas interviews Nick Adams on American Men under attack.
My first response to this is that he is overblowing some of it, but I have to admit that he has a point. For example, I have a sad situation I’ve been involved with in extended family where a close male relative just got out of jail after his estranged wife decided she had a better chance of getting child custody in the inevitable divorce if she first made an abuse complaint against him. She provoked a mild argument and called the cops, accusing him of hitting her. He was immediately arrested despite the pleas of other family in the house who disputed her charge. When they showed to the first hearing, all she had to do was answer with one word to the judge’s question about whether she wanted “no contact,” and his bail was set impossibly high, he was forbidden from contacting the children, and he ended up rotting in jail for a very long time until the other family could hock themselves to a bail bondsman for him. He is now a criminal slaved to a vicious system where he has virtually no rights whatsoever, and his life is truly ruined forever. And this is only one of several similar cases I’ve seen. It really is true that this is a dangerous balance of power between men and women in the criminal justice system, and even with all these triggers in place, women STILL get abused, so even with the DV hair trigger, women still don’t really get protected. But whose fault is the whole mess? I have no idea how it got this way. I understand victim advocacy, but where are the checks and balances?

When my ex decided to run off with a guy from our church, she went to the court and claimed the son she had convinced me to adopt was afraid of me.Thats all it took for him to deny me any visitation with him.She took him,her new man and my child support money and I haven’t seen or heard from any of them since 1992.

      • It’s a shame what lengths people go to in fighting over children of divorce. I don’t blame people for fighting over them, because children are precious. But some sure don’t mind fighting dirty.

  9. What A Hoot says:

Yippee! Congratulation Grunts. This is GRAND news for sure. Just wait until you hold that treasure; it is a feeling like nothing you have experienced yet. Savor the moment. Prayers and blessing showered upon the new little family.

  10. texan59 says:

Congratulations to you and Mrs. G. πŸ˜€

    • Much obliged! Hey, Tex, I just got a visit with an uncle from the Monticello/Monon area (White County), and we got a chance to talk over old times up around Logansport/Walton/Kokomo. As a rule, we tried not to spend too much time in hostile Cass County territory in those days. They take their football a little TOO seriously over there, you know. But these days it’s fun to make fun of them from a safe distance. No offense. πŸ˜€

There’s only two teams in Cass Co., the Logan DewBerries and the mighty, mighty 2A Lewis Cass Kings. πŸ™‚ I have no idea what either of them are doing on the gridiron so feel free to lob a few mortars in there whenever the feeling hits ya. As former band nerd, who went a lot more places than the football team ever did, I haven’t kept up with their exploits. My last year there, the best thing about a football game was the beer party afterward in someone’s pasture. πŸ˜†

My homeground was as a grappler and wearing the “tools of ignorance”. I think I had a Napoleonic complex on the diamond. πŸ˜‰

At least one dem writer thinks they are in trouble. Apparently many others still in denial. Unless the rino’s are able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again.

Congratulations to the happy family !

  19. ZurichMike says:

She has red hair, like ZurichMike has — ok, used to have up until recently — ok, up until a few years ago — OK, I am now bald and have a white beard, but I used to be redhead, and redheads are GORGEOUS.
