India’s first interplanetary mission, the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), launched flawlessly from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, just north of Chennai, on November 5th. Just yesterday, it completed its last orbit raising maneuver to prepare it for its injection into heliocentric flight toward Mars.  Read more at Universe Today.  Also, Wikipedia.  Shalini must have heard this launch last week from where she lives in Chennai.  What did it sound like, Shal?

  2. If you’re like the average American, you spend at least part of the day wondering what would happen if Miley Cyrus engaged in a rap battle with Joan of Arc. The age old question now has something of an answer. 😯

I have been keeping a close eye on this. This has potential to cause a biblical disaster that would affect not just the Pacific rim but the entire world. As for us, this already is affecting the Pacific wildlife and is getting worse. The “leak” is continuous and radiation levels in fish are rising. The levels found may be “ok” for human consumption for now, BUT, the levels ARE rising and not stopping. I fish, live on the Big Island, and am halfway between Japan and the West Coast of the U.S. mainland. This does concern me and really, it should be an important concern to the rest of the world.
