I try to remember the Parable of the Talents. There was only one servant that the Master was not happy with– the servant that was afraid of his Master’s wrath, and so buried what he had been given, so it wouldn’t be lost. The Master was, however, pleased with the servants that took what they were given, then went out into the world and invested it–at great risk– with greater and lesser results.

Or, as Serendipity says: “I have issues with anyone who treats G-d as a burden instead of a blessing. You people don’t celebrate your faith; you mourn it.”

    • Wonderful, Zoph. Well said. I must tell you a quick “Rapping Priest” story. When Ann Barnhardt was sitting on our deck 2 summers ago, sipping white wine and trying to convince our parochial vicar and future saint, Fr. Joe, that the traditionalist view was the way to go and that dignity needed to be restored and the “super-fun, rock-band church” needed to be avoided, the padre interjected that he’d done a rap act for Jesus during a youth event. She spent the next 20 minutes very graciously explaining why that is a bad idea. His response: “I would do it again, and here’s why.”

His rap act was outstanding, and it really helped, along with other things he did and said, to put the fire of the Holy Spirit in the kids at our parish. He had passion for God.

I know that Ann has good points about this, but she was no match for Fr. Joe, Servant of God, and I found her arguments unconvincing. Just like I found my crazy grandmother’s advice unconvincing. Unlike PistolPete’s Granny, who gave him lots of good advice, my crazy grandmother only tried to teach me one thing, and it was terrible advice, so even at 7 years old, I pretty much ignored it. She told me you have to keep your dignity. At the time, I thought in my head: “You mean the ‘dignity’ that caused you to treat your husband like an idiot? You mean the dignity that caused you to move into a separate bedroom for 30 years because he once had enough of your crap during an argument and walked out for a night, and you assumed he must have been with another woman, so you never forgave him, even though he apparently spent the night in the car? I’m pretty sure that kind of ‘dignity’ would have kept Jesus from dying on the cross for me, so thanks but no thanks.”

Yeah. . .this is all connected to some things that get me very worked up, and is slowly congealing in the back of my brain to write on. . . in a while . ..

  2. I thought this was a joke at first. From USA Today:
The planet-like object on the far reaches of the solar system is officially named “2012 VP-113,” but astronomers like to call it “Biden.”

  3. Poll says nobody believes terrorist connections in missing flight 370.
Excuse me for being cynical, but could that possibly be due to the fact that the press refused to cover any of those leads whatsoever? I’m a little disturbed that people are so non-curious and so easily manipulated on this.

Cool stuff! I remember seeing a TV clip about a stunt motocross type who got wrecked in one down a cliff stunt. Besides breaking lots of bones he lost his hearing. After a year or two of rehab he tried the same stunt again… got destroyed once more……..
      but his hearing came back!

Ya gotta laugh. An Indiana power plant that uses more energy than it produces:

Sounds like our government. Was it designed by the democrats?

😀 From The Green Corruption Files:

Duke Energy, the nation’s largest electric power company, is another CAP corporate donor, which has been a client of the Podesta Group since 2009. What’s interesting here is that Jim Rogers, the chairman of Duke Energy is another Obama donor, and was a major player at the 2012 Democratic convention, as a contributor, creditor, host, and a speaker. Duke Energy won hundreds of millions of green energy money for various projects, which will be detailed later.

  5. Pistol Pete says:

Get ready to pay more for gas…a LOT more.Obama’s been salivating to get his hands on the state and private land that’s fueling our boom in oil and natural gas production. He will now confiscate millions of acres of prime land to save a chicken.Like they bankrupted the San Joaquin Valley by damming up the wayerways to save a two inch fish called a snail darter.
There’s nothing we can do about it and the media doesn’t care.

    Prairie chicken listed as threatened
