Sooooooo adorable. The Swiss German have a sound for the “awwwww” moment:
“Jöööööööö!” which is pronounced “yer” (year without an “a” sound). Thus endeth your cross-cultural lesson for today.

Feeling a bit frustrated. Been spending more time than usual on the interwebs while I work through a head cold/virus. The problem is two of the sites (gun-related) are riddled with antagonistic atheists. Possibly not coincidental, they’re both New York based.

    • How antagonistic? Name calling? The gun forums can get pretty antagonistic, usually, but it’s usually gun issues. How does the religion come in?

Scroll through. I’m Barnslayer at both sites.

Not sure if the second one will allow viewing by guests.

        • Wow. Headache material, for sure. Some good discussion, though. The iGreg guy and Barnslayer (whoever that is) are obviously intelligent, well-educated and good-looking. CaptainWill is a real asshat, it seems.

Although it wasn’t one-sided it was still a disappointment. At both forums I got a very strong sense of being in the midst of Paulbots. I was the one that broached the subject at the NY Firearms forum. Asking the guy if he believed in GOD was like letting the genie out of the bottle. 4GFC is a real haven of sanity.

            • “Haven of sanity,” except for Sol. The six or seven dogs are understandable, but he’s got way too many cats to be considered completely “sane.” If he collects any more strays, they’re gonna start taking away his guns. 😀

              • barnslayer says:

You’re thinking of them as pets. Now remember how Tarzan knew something bad was going on in the jungle? How all the animals started making a racket and acting all squirrely? Those cats and dogs are Sol’s perimeter warning system.

              • That’s true. They also help by detecting earthquakes and pre-cleaning the dishes before they go in the sink.

BTW, Grunt.. thanks for your support and bothering to look at the other forums.
It sounds sappy but you are a true friend.

              • Likewise, Friend. Thanks for the good word. I get that “forum burnout” all the time when I get stuck in a moronic discussion somewhere late at night and end up walking away. It’s depressing. Can’t help thinking: “If even conservatives can be this thick, what’s the point?” And then the lefty discussions are a whole ‘nuther dimension of stupid. I figured that’s where you were last night.

The Colorado GOP assembly was today in Boulder. It was interesting to watch the candidates and the establishment endorsements. From the rhetoric, you would think everyone in the GOP is dedicated conservatives! For governor, the candidate with the biggest signs and most t-shirts was Gessler, but Mike Kopp edged him out in delegate votes and receives top line on the primary ballot (Tancredo and Beauprez did not participate, choosing to petition on). For Attorney General, Cynthia Coffman came across very well and received two thirds of the delegates. Her challenger was already sounding nasty in his acceptance speech but managed to squeak onto the primary ballot. Someone attending recommended the following website for shining light on Old Guard Establishment Republican activities:
