I stole this “dog’s life” photo from Wirecutter in honor of Sol’s dog Sweetie, who was killed yesterday. Rest in peace, and never run out of bacon, Sweetie.

  1. Harvey says:

So very very sorry to read that you lost a dog yesterday. Heartfelt condolences.

  2. barnslayer says:

Pets are family. Anyone that would kill a dog deserves a rope.

    • It’s even more sinister than that. The low-life who shot the dog was the previous owner, but had been starving and abusing it. Sol had adopted the dog a few years ago to save it. When the idiot saw the dog loose, he probably killed it out of spite.

  3. ZurichMike says:

Lord, let me be half the person my dog thinks I am.

  4. texan59 says:

Sorry sol. What a low-life that dude is. All Dogs go to Heaven. I know where this doosh will go. 👿

  5. High winds and rain causing problems in the lower Chesapeake.
Some of our guys at Langley had to leave meetings early today because of this weather. Freedom1781, have you had any trouble up around Yorktown?

I dunno around doen there. But higher up on the bay, and a bit to the west, it was sleet and snow all night. my poor Lady’s Mantle had little globes of ice on their leaves this morning instead of dew, and the hyacinths look like they were put in a cryo-tank!

I heard about the ships on the 11 o’clock news last night.

We didn’t lose power in my neck-of-the-woods but the winds and rain were awful, felt like we were in a hurricane. I was home sick all day yesterday, so I didn’t have to drive in that mess. There was a funnel cloud spotted near the river at Yorktown, it wasn’t a water spout, like we sometimes get. It’s still windy today and much colder. Yesterday the high temp was near 80, today it’s in the lower 40s.

      • That’s good news coverage. The news last night made it sound like the ship was grounded in Norfolk or up against the Ches Bridge Tunnel, which would have been bad. But it was on the beach near Virginia Beach, east of the bridge, which is a whole lot better.
