Good morning all! I’ve updated my “Birthday Playlist” for this year, and am making available for others to listen to for the next week or so. Happy Friday!

    • Seems appropriate!

I found this other piece on the Daily Dot that got me thinking. Not sure exactly how to take it. Seems a little smug to me. After all, maybe the author is the one who has a narrow view of feminism? She seems to be a little too unwilling to allow Woodley her own opinion, you know? She assumes straightaway that Woodley’s “misinformed.” Maybe… and maybe not.

The way I see it, it’s the author that’s off-base, here. She’s so caught up with what feminism is supposed to be (The idea that women are worth the same as men, and possess the same inherent dignity and are worthy of the same general respect) that she can’t see it for what it currently is (the systematic abuse and deliberate degredation of all men and the women that respect and love them). Luckily, it looks like a fair number of commenters from both sexes are trying to point that out. Maybe some of those comments will get through to her.

        • Good point, and well said. I’m not against some of what she’s said, and I can see that there’s legitimate reason to be a feminist, but I’m a little shocked at her attitude. She seems pissed-off and shocked that *anyone* would fail to jump at the chance to identify with what has clearly been a movement with a mixed record. Also, a mixed definition. Clearly, it should not be so shocking to her that some would have subtly differing ideas of what a feminist is. Also, who made her the Grand Poobah of Feminism? Why does SHE get to define it? I didn’t see any citations from 1920s suffragettes or Gloria Steinem in there.

This was on the interwebz, so it must be true. Have your trash can handy. πŸ˜†

  3. Anybody else wish cops could get worked up into a frenzy like this over somebody else getting hurt? You know, a NON-cop? And then care about not shooting people’s kids in their beds? If people had any say at all in who “serves” them, do you think any of these officers who fired rounds would still have a job?

  6. Liberal rag Mother Jones cannot be anymore offensive if they tried: If you didn’t vote for Obama, you’re a subconscious racist.

I went to the source article and read about 50 comments. They actually had a much higher number of responses from people calling BS than I expected. Last time I posted over there, I was hammered for about two months. Not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent. Not at this juncture. πŸ˜‰

      • I looked over there, too. Makes you wonder if there could ever be a rational dialogue in this country about race. You can’t argue with people who tell you “You’re racist but too stupid to realize it.” How do you respond to that?

  7. Pope complaining about some of the right things, but offers few good solutions.

As a Christian, I’m totally willing to criticize the excesses of capitalism, but Franko is making some big mistakes here if he thinks that the UN can be any part of a “legitimate” solution to poverty. I think he needs to go visit the retards in the UN and see the lavish lifestyle of hypocrisy they swim in. Might change his mind.
