  5. It was his own fault. The science is settled. He didn’t get the memo. Where would science be if people started asking questions?

The good folks at the local Police dept. held a firearms buyback last Saturday. One gun owner decided to send a message to the governor (andrew cuomo). See if you can decipher it….

    • That is hilarious! I love the fact that the Nassau County PD didn’t take the stickers off before displaying the rifles. But that gratuitous language in the writeups always makes me want to puke. That BS about “getting these dangerous weapons off our streets” and “making our communities so much safer.” Gag. As if ANY of these came from gangsters who were going to use them for holdups or mob hits. Idiots.

Some guys on the local gun forum were discussing attaching stuff like a cheap vertical forearm grip to a crappy old rifle to bring it up to “assault weapon” status and get $400 for it.
The rifle with the stickers would have cost ~ $400 brand new which it was not. It was turned in by one of the forum members. I wonder if they really checked to see if the guns were “licensed”, or if they even worked. Illegal? Only if you keep rewriting the laws.

  10. What A Hoot says:

Well I was trying to rack my brain about something I know I saw but eventually seemed like I did not see. This was after watching Bill Whittle’s “Gaslighting” video. ( I KNOW I dropped the tidbit floating in the recesses of my mind somewhere where I used haunt on the internet so finally googled “comment yomotley social security number 2010” and stuff came up from Honey Trail Redux. (this surprised me because I didn’t think this was a topic on HT, for various reasons). Anyways, to my surprise when I clicked on any of the link, Chrome (no choice but to use for search engine on particular computer) warns me “Danger – Malware Ahead!”. Funny thing is the links listed that only have the word ‘social’ in them there is no warning and all is just so peachy keen. The two with ‘social security numbers’ have the warning. To take the risk or not? Anyone else use Chrome and get warning?

  11. What A Hoot says:

On my search explained above I came across this comment from RedPill. All articles he links are still relevant and worth a first-time read or re-read. Highly recommend!

  12. USDA looking for submachine-gun contractor.
The thing that troubles me about this is that this clearly isn’t for the USDA. Who’s it for, then? These are the kinds of weapons the Nazis used to round up large groups of people. I can’t think of many other uses for these except personal defense in a very hostile environment. This is very disturbing.

OK, summer weather can start now. We just reached the end of the days of the “ice saints” (“Eisheilige”). According to tradition and the wisdom of the oldtimers in the mountains, this is the time of year where the last cold weather is felt. In Switzerland, the “ice saints” who have feast days from May 12-15 respectively: Saint Pancras, Saint Servatius, Saint Boniface, and Saint Sophie (in Germany, they also note Saint Mamertus on May 11). There are all kinds of saying about the weather at this time, the easiest to remember is: There can be no summer before and no snow after the days of the Ice Saints.

This year, is was indeed very cold, rainy (snowy in the mountains) the past few days. It’s still a bit cold this morning, but warm, sunny weather will return tomorrow and for the foreseeable future. Traditionally, people now can now plant cold-sensitive flowers or put out houseplants without danger of their being shocked by cold weather. For ZurichMike this means the tradition of enjoying gin-and-tonics on the terrace can commence!
