Yes, I’m going to play the “if it was Bush card.”

    • This was a good post, and they made an excellent point. The POTUS gets only good coverage for his decadent golf outings to rich friends’ estates in Hawaii at huge expense while the country suffers and one of the worst homelessness epidemics continues right down the road.

Where do these freeloaders get their tents? In the old days they used cardboard or scraps or plywood. Now they shop at REI?

        • Most of those aren’t freeloaders. The deal in Hawaii is that housing is so expensive that the working poor end up living in tents when they can’t make the rent. Lots of those are families with both parents working in restaurant jobs. They got money, just not enough money. Shantytowns like those are nothing new, but they’re unusual in America. But, OTOH, if you want the Rio de Janiero experience, you just have to go to Oahu.

There are many families here that fit your description. You are right… to a certain extent. There is the “other” side of that coin as well. You cannot throw out the welfare/gov assistance equation. Our welfare program here is the most corrupt in the nation. It is easy to aquire for the “crooked” and hard to get for the “working poor” – the real people in need. Once in the program, working or not, it is difficult to jump out of it. And most of the people on welfare are “addicted” to this. This is just how the gubmint wanted it… control. There is the “drugs” equation as well. Meth is the worst in the nation here. With legalized pot, the “poor” statistics will get worse. These “potheads” are already sucking the system into overload.

For those “working poor” who end up living in tents, because of not having enough money to rent a home, they will always opt for mobility, before having a home. So it is not uncommon to see good all-round vehicles, like a large 4×4, in the homeless camps. So, your right. The actual “working poor” have money, just not enough. The cost of living in Hawaii is indeed high.

Thank you bHo and Big Brother for “looking out” for us. You have made the situation worse. Oh! That’s right. This is how you wanted it to be. A lot of people are going to die and chaos will reign when the crud hits the fan. Big Brother will be responsible for that as well.

While I would not recommend tattoo removal by the same means, at least this kid figured out part of the problem. 😯
