Just a followup on Knight’s post regarding the armor auction. These items are from the former Littlefield Museum. Some may remember Jacques Littlefield from the TV show “Tank Overhaul”. He passed away and the current owners are consolidating the collection.
Lots of pictures (and prices). If I had that kinda money I guess I’d also have a bigger garage.

    Gitmo: Closing Up Shop?
“This whole deal may have been a test to see how far the administration can actually push it, and if Congress doesn’t fight back they will feel more empowered to move forward with additional transfers,” a senior GOP Senate aide told the Daily Beast’s Josh Rogin. “They’ve lined up all the dominoes to be able to move a lot more detainees out of Guantanamo and this could be just the beginning.”
In my wildest dreams I thought I’d never see the time when someone with a pathological hatred for his own country could achieve such unstoppable power to destroy.A grown child, arrogant, petulant, having everything given to him without cost to him effectively using his skin color to deflect criticism shrugged off as merely racist rants from commoners who are doubtlessly jealous of his superior intellect and foresight. They must be made to obey because he knows whats better for them than they do.Any other human being in his position would have been gone by now.
His disciples in the media guarded him until after he was reelected and it no longer mattered. You would not be able to find a coalition of souls in DC that would be willing to take steps necessary for his removal.Republicans fear him, democrats hate him but can’t say anything to alienate the 90%+ black vote so many of them need to keep their jobs. They know it…he knows it….and the blood will continue to flow.

I just read the heroic poem, the Chanson du Roland (the Song of Roland), as we are currently on vacation in Spain and it seemed the right thing to do, what with us visiting places in Andalusia that were focal points of the Moorish occupation and later Reconquista of Spain. It is a marvelous read, and you can download it for free at — a place to get all kinds of classic lit for free (the Song of Roland was in one of the Harvard Classic volumes).

    • Did you see Emilio Estevez’s movie The Way? About the way of St. James? I’m sure you have. Delightful scene at one of the outdoor meals early on where the Peregrinos got to arguing about Roland.

Roland! This past spring, I was singing Litanies a la Vierge Noire (something to do with the Roc de Saint Amadour?), and there’s a bit about Roland in that. . . I think it was something like “Vierge! A qui Roland consecra son epee, prie pour nous!”

It was a delightfully martial part of the litanies, so I loved singing that part . . .

    • Whoa. Since when did Houston become Mogadishu?

Sometimes the city folk get nostalgic for the riots. Many years ago there was a catastrophic windshear jet crash at JFK. The plane hit a road just outside airport property on it’s way to the nearby landing field. The local denizens did their best imitation of MadMax extras rummaged through the carnage and made off with whatever luggage etc. they could find. 1975 about a half mile from my high school.

  5. BTW Bwasn’t yesterday the anniversary of Tiananmen Square standoff?

why no mention of that video of the girly man “exercising”. It was excruciatingly pitiful. The weights selected would have been around 5kg each. The number of repetitions were about 5.

Please do not tell me that the girly man did not know that the video was being taken. I think that he organized the video so that he could “brag” about his level of fitness. I can do weights better than the girly man, even though I use only 1 kg weights due to some physical issues.

Since I was not the only one to see the Vlad connection I note that at least 2 sites had a video with Vlad doing his exercise… what a man!! Then, being an Aussie, I remembered that our own Tony Abbott, who is a triathelete is also very fit. Perhaps the girly man was feeling extremely intimidated and so he had to prove that he is somehow equal to these other men who are in fact real athletes. After all, Tony Abbott is known for his budgie smugglers 🙂

    • It’s true, Aussie! Abbott has our pussycat President beat by a mile. And you’re right about how excruciating that video was. I think we had it posted somewhere else. Maybe yesterday. I like the version BigFurHat posted to YouTube set to the old 80s song Afternoon Delight. That was a riot!

      • Aussie says:

well to add insult to injury, have you watched video of Tony Abbott riding a bike? 🙂

He was riding in Paris with a team who were raising money for injured Vets. There was none of that prissy riding a girly bike in mom jeans for Tony Abbott!! Enough for any girly man to feel intimidated.
