The Mauna Loa Silversword, or ‘Āhinahina, one of the rarest flowers on the planet. Some of the plants, which bloom only once in 30 years, have been blooming over the last few weeks on the slopes of Mauna Kea, Hawaii. Not only a good historical note but, like most things in martial arts, the ideas are applicable in other circumstances:

    • This is pretty good, but I see a lot of disagreement out there about this. Lots of guys who’ve been in hand to hand combat have a serious respect (or fear) of strength, and there’s a good reason for this. Despite the benefits of skill and speed, a big strong fighter is a serious problem to overcome, and if you have strength, it’s a huge advantage. If you don’t have it, your strikes seem to have little effect on the big guys. Sometimes, a fight is more like a “collision” than a “dance,” and the first few cuts are useless if you can’t stop him from getting through your defenses and crushing you.

I’m not saying this to discourage. I’m just saying that it may be wise, if you’re smaller, to more quickly resort to bigger weapons, such as firearms, if you can. A small woman with a 12-gauge is a formidable thing.

“Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.” I think this Navy SEAL credo kinda applies here…somehow.

Obama: Michelle ‘Bad Example for Pay Equality’ Because She Works for Free

the poor woman…. in exchange for working tirelessly to force public schools to feed our children food they won’t eat all she gets is taxpayer-paid vacations all over the world, designer gowns and shoes,a personal chef.35 full-time assistants, guest spots on every television program ever produced and free hay and grain for life.

Hillary Clinton’s first week of book sales versus Sarah Palin’s is not even close
just a guess….the people who bought ‘Going Rogue’ actually read it.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to tour the nation, promoting her new book, Hard Choices, and a possible 2016 candidacy.

Her book tour, filled with gaffes and missteps, has lagged and perhaps failed to live up to expectations. But that’s not all. Her book, when compared to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s political memoir, Going Rogue, has woefully underperformed in sales.

And it’s pretty cut and dried.

Palin’s book, which was released the same year President Obama moved into the White House, sold approximately 496,000 copies in its first week of release, according to figures cited by the New York Times.

That’s almost half a million copies in one week.

In contrast, Clinton, with all her softball interviews and a massive amount of free publicity from an excited press, sold only 100,000 copies from its Tuesday release through Saturday, Politico reported.

Remember the stuff about Holder placing firearm businesses into some contrived “high risk” category? The result was credit companies withholding their funds or refusing to do business with them. They are demonizing legitimate business. They want to control guns so they can control us.
This new TAX is clearly a restraint of trade. Worse it smacks of both moslem jizya (tax on infidels) and this

  5. I guess it’s true after all.

  6. How does he do it? I mean, how does he get away with it?

As of Nov. 7,2012 his presidency began in earnest. The media still have to cover for him,the democrats(any with a conscience) dare not alienate their most important constituency and republicans have no backbone when faced with the world’s most powerful race card.We have 2 more years of suffering and he’s only begun the real damage he intends to do.And he knows no power on earth can stop him.

Prosecutors: Gov. Walker Part of Criminal Scheme
The left always lets you know who they fear.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate, coordinated fundraising with conservative groups as part of a nationwide “criminal scheme” to violate election laws, prosecutors said in court documents unsealed Thursday.
“These documents show how the John Doe prosecutors adopted a blatantly unconstitutional interpretation of Wisconsin law that they used to launch a secret criminal investigation targeting conservatives throughout Wisconsin,”

this is so reminiscent of the Tom DeLay case where Johnnie Earle had to go to three different grand juries to get a tepid indictment, which was enough to force him from office. The prosecuters in Milwaukee, also had to try a number of judges before they got permission to embark on this political witch hunt. They fear he may run for president in 2016.They can’t allow that.

Hey Grunt, your Gov. didn’t read the Colorado gun control law before signing it.

    • That’s only because he was forced to apologize to the state sheriff’s association about it. His apology was pathetic, though. He blamed his staff and said “we never thought it would make it through the legislature.” 🙄 Great excuse.

  12. Servers without hard drives?
I try to hold my tongue about some of the things going on over at the site where we are not welcome – the site that cannot be named. I really do. But today I saw two things right away that made me run away quickly. The first was a post about how a bowl of apples on the coffee table in the Oval Office had recently been removed. It was explained, without joking, I think, that the White House reads that blog, and the WH staff were humiliated into removing the bowl of apples because of their blog posts analyzing and mocking the apples. Really.

The second thing was even more bewildering. In a post about Lois Lerner’s missing hard drive, the author lectured the media about using the term “hard drive.” As follows:

Repeat after me: Emails are not stored on “Hard Drives”; they are stored on “servers”.
If your computer crashes, you log onto another computer and access your e-mail. E-mail is not dependent on the workstation.

The second part is fairly true, but the first part is a real head scratcher, because the hard drive the media has been talking about all this time was never on Lois Lerner’s desktop workstation. It was in a room full of servers. Servers that store all their data on – you know – “hard drives.” The author got corrected right away by one of the commenters who pointed out that servers don’t magically store emails without resorting to hard drives. In fact, they have large arrays of hard drives (RAID arrays) which are generally protected, by design, from loss of data. This is why other pundits showed the Lois Lerner hard drive in a “raised floor” server room like the one Earl of Taint depicted the other day:

I just checked again to see if the embarrassing lecture had been corrected. It had not. I hope this doesn’t confuse the White House.
