In Honor of Those Who Gave All

MarineTaps2

There’s a tradition in the U.S. armed forces of not directly criticizing the POTUS, particularly on Memorial Day weekend.  But given the fresh batch of thousands of young men and women who joined the ranks of the honored dead over the last 6 years, seemingly for nothing – indeed for worse than nothing – while their disinterested CInC admits to being AWOL all that time, especially during the entire night of the stand in that northeastern Libyan city that will be mentioned a lot in coming Congressional hearings, I will let someone who is not a U.S. serviceman put the words to a song written by Europeans.  The lyrics below are from Groucho Marxist at the People’s Cube, set to the Zombies song.  To play the video, you will need to click on the YouTube icon after you click on the video itself.

Well no one told him about it and so he lied
Well no one told him about it, how many veterans died
But it’s too late to say he’s sorry
How would he know, he doesn’t care
Please don’t bother tryin’ to blame him
He’s not there

Well let me tell you ’bout the way he lies
The way he acts and his determined stare
Says he’s mad as hell too
His lies are clear and bright
But he’s not there

Well no one told him about it, they said he knew
Well no one told him about it, TEA Party Screwed
But it’s too late to say he’s sorry
How would he know, He doesn’t care
Please don’t bother tryin’ to blame him
He’s not there

Well let me tell you ’bout the way he lies
The way he acts and his determined stare
Says he’s mad as hell too
His lies are clear and bright
But he’s not there

—— electric piano ——

But it’s too late to say he’s sorry
How would he know, he doesn’t care
Please don’t bother tryin’ to blame him
He’s not there

Well let me tell you ’bout the way he lies
The way he acts and his determined stare
Says he’s mad as hell too
His lies are clear and bright
But he’s not there
